Witches of East End 1.09: Ingrid is the key!

This episode was easy breezy, but I know it’s because things are going to pop all the way off in the finale.

It’s the day of Freya’s engagement party, but she can’t be excited about it because her powers are still gone. She says that she feels empty, like a part of her is missing. I don’t even know why Ingrid tried that “At least you don’t have to lie to Dash anymore” as a means of making her feel better. Freya’s powers haven’t intruded on her relationship with Dash. Her attraction to Killian has. Freya hasn’t had to run off to go save anyone or fix anything, so lying to Dash about her powers hasn’t been an issue.

Witches of East End 1.08: Joanna is full of secrets!

Let me list what I learned:

  • Witches come from Asguard
  • Joanna and Wendy’s father, Ingrid and Freya’s grandfather, rules there
  • The Serpens Claven corrupted the father
  • He banished his daughters from Asguard and has threatened to kill them if they ever return
  • Joanna has a son named Frederick who chose his grandfather’s side. I wonder if he’s the oldest, then
  • Joanna is the reason that the women are cursed (which I guessed in the last review)
  • Joanna’s husband is still alive, and he’s close by!

Is that it? I think that’s it. At first I thought Frederick was Joanna’s husband or great lover, but nope. He’s her son. This woman is full of secrets, and I love it. I love her. I love her voice (yes, I remember raising my eyebrow at her accent in the beginning, but the show seems to have accepted it and they’re letting her use the accent); I love her inflection; I love her acting; I just love everything about her.

Witches of East End 1.07: So much is happening!

This episode was very entertaining, with everyone’s story moving forward. Ingrid, Joanna, and Wendy never have a problem with this. The one who benefited the most was Freya.

Dash knows! Freya felt in her stomach and in her bones that something was going to go wrong, and she pulled Killian aside to tell him this, and she of course talks about the kiss, and just guess who had the fortunate luck of overhearing. Dash! My man finally knows, and he let Killian know that he knows in the way that you’d expect.

Witches of East End 1.06: How Ingrid died last time

The episode is called Potentia Noctis, and Freya’s storyline provided the cliffhanger. What the hell is that on Penelope Gardiner’s back? Is the woman corrupt, or is she possessed? As far as we know, there is only one shapeshifter running around. Right?

Okay, so I just read something that spoiled me as to who she is. Ugh. I wish that hadn’t happened.

So Dash is determined to figure out what the heck was in Mrs. Thatcher’s throat. His cute coworker Amy Matthews says that science doesn’t support the organism’s existence, even though the thing showed up in New Orleans years ago.

The bad news in all of this is that Dash, Amy, and Freya all touched the organism. It’s up to Freya to save Dash and Amy after Wendy helps her save herself.

Witches of East End 1.05: Ingrid tries to hold on

What a wonderfully emotional episode!

It’s called Electric Avenue, presumably because of the ghost that Freya had to deal with, but Ingrid’s story was the meat of the episode for me.

Baby girl tries to hold on to the recently deceased Adam, and in the beginning I asked myself whether it was sad or creepy. When she started to explain herself once she was discovered, I decided that it was just sad. I worried that the show might make too light of the situation during Adam’s funeral, but it turned out to simply be Ingrid and Adam sharing a little joke.

Their story was so sweet, full of love, sadness, and regret. My bottom lip was pretty much sticking out when Ingrid was releasing him to the other side. It was somberly romantic, with the flowers and their entwined hands. And Adam hurrying to kiss her? His slightly trembling voice when he asked if she would summon him from time to time? When she told him that he was only allowed one visit and they’d used it up?

And how about the previous scene that took place in her bedroom, when they both aired their selfishness, her for wanting him to stay and him for wanting to stay?

I’m still alive! + Flailings About The Walking Dead

How DEAD is this blog? 😦

My main excuse is that I have a full time job now. Along with that, I drive an hour to get to it and an hour back, so when I get home, I am sleepy.

I’ve fallen behind on every show that I’m supposed to be reviewing. Clearly, I have not watched Scandal over the summer like I said I was going to. INSTEAD, I’ve been watching The Walking Dead! And it didn’t even take me that long, really. I started it over the 4th of July weekend, and finished season 4 about two weeks after.

The zombies kept me away (not because I’m scared or creeped out, but because I’m not interested in zombies or apocalypse stories). My mom and sister watching it during the 4th of July weekend brought me into it, because I am the tv show junkie in our house, and I don’t like to be left out when they’re interested in a show, and I don’t know about it. Makes no sense.

But I love this show! It’s so freaking amazing, and well-written and has great characters who experience incredible growth. And the continuity! If you’ve read/listened to two or more reviews on this blog, then you know how important continuity is to me, and this show, this show gets it. *Wipes tear*

Scandal 3.13: No Sun on the Horizon

In this terrible episode, Olivia speaks of darkness and sunlight only to choose the former at the last minute. Sally wants to confess her sin to the whole world in the presidential debate and this has Cyrus sweating about finally going to jail. Quinn has to pay her dues in B613 and  complains all the way until she realizes the world doesn’t bend to her ego. David gets cold feet about Publius and then James gets cold feet about Publius, so Jake decides to end their unproductive partnership by shooting one of them. In spite of most of this and because of the last event, Sabrina remains satisfied with Scandal’s return so far.

Scandal 3.11: Ride, Sally, Ride

Scandal’s back with the mostly satisfying Ride, Sally, Ride. Olivia is Fitz’s new campaign manager until resurfaced rumors of her possible affair with him make her change her mind. Sally announces her bid as an Independent for the next presidential race but emphasizes that she will complete her term as Vice President first. Sally’s announcement lights a fire under Fitz to find a running mate, and his choice ends up having a surprising connection to Mellie. James is partnering up with David once again in hopes of bringing justice to Daniel Douglas; Rowan vows to put Fitz six feet under for dethroning him as command, and we finally meet Adnan Salif.

I apologize for my heavy breathing in parts of the podcast. I was sick at the time and didn’t realize how loud my breathing would get.-Alta

Teen Wolf S03E19: Lutharia Vulpina Review

This episode didn’t let me down. It was a nice follow-up from last week, though of course it wasn’t 100% perfect. This is Teen Wolf, headed by the one and only Jeff Davis. Of course there were problems.

Let’s start with Deaton. Yes, his entrance was cool. Yes, him paralyzing that one man was also cool. But where did he come from? I thought the flashbacks from last episode were happening in Japan, so when he showed up, I was like, “Deaton flew to Japan?”

Who recommended him to the gang? Since when does he make house calls? Why does he make house calls? I thought he was done with all of this except for Scott? When did he come into this storyline? The last time we saw him he was talking about doors and jars. Now he’s all about possession? Why couldn’t we have seen Scott talking to him about this? You know, at work? They could’ve worked a scene or two in last episode since Deaton was actually mentioned with regards to security.
