Scandal 2.21: Any Questions?

Scandal 2.21

We have plenty! In this episode, Cyrus attempts to deal with the fallout from Mellie’s announcement by reeling Fitz in and berating James. Because that will help things. Olivia brushes off Harrison’s concern. The mole and the mole’s accomplice is revealed.

“[Mellie’s] overall goal is still focused on Fitz and has nothing to do with her. She still wants to ride his coattails. She wants to make sure that his coattails stay clean and pristine and sharp so that the ride can continue to be good for her. And that’s disappointing.” – Alta

“People who have their stuff together, people who have the power, who know their power and their worth don’t have to yell at other people.” – Sabrina

“[Fitz and Cyrus] don’t care about their significant other’s passions, their feelings, what makes them hurt, what makes them happy – they don’t care. They just want to be pacified.” – Alta

“It’s almost like [Olivia] thinks it’s cute that they think she can be saved.” – Sabrina

  1. Awesome review. Sabrina has the best deadpanning lol.
Captain Jack Harness (the male Olivia Pope) was all talk and not much doing anything.
I personally think James will divorce Cyrus though. I think it’ll happen. And he’ll also try to out Defiance. There’s a reason why the camera focused on his heartbroken reaction and lip quiver.
Mellie is suddenly an emotional being in the latest episodes. I don’t know where this 180 comes from. I thought she was a political animal. I don’t know.
Love how you guys are the “not here for David” club. Thanks.

“This ship is problematic, but they want me to deal with it episode after episode…” (Alta)
I feel exactly the same about them. Lol at the comment about Fitz trying to be a bigamist because this line was so ridiculous to me too.
Yeah, unfortunately, the part where she learns that he was going to resign anyways became all about Fitz’s self-doubt and his manpain. I can’t with them trying to portray him as a victim. He is not a fucking victim.
I don’t understand why anyone would vote for Fitz again. When you look at all the sex scandals that happened during his term, the crappy political decisions…what does anybody sees in him as a president? I am so done with everyone talking about Fitz as if he’s the Messiah or something. He’s incompetent as fuck.

My favourite scene was the Cyrus/Olivia scene in the park. When Cyrus is all “You’re breaking my heart.” I love Cyrus’s sugar and ice emotionally manipulative personality. And this line made me laugh. He’s the one character I love to hate tbqh.
So you guys were joking about this scene and it reminded me of how much this show loves its metaphors and analogies which are present in every single speech given. I think they were basically saying that things change and nothing is set is stone.
Olivia is really stupid. She’s the one that lectured Amanda Tanner about what a sex scandal can do to someone’s career, but she hasn’t given a single thought to her own career when her affair with Fitz comes out. First of all, there is a big leap in logic in Fitz’s “plan”. As if people will not make the link between the woman that broke his marriage and Olivia Pope if he introduces her as his wife-to-be to America.

I don’t know what face you guys are talking about, this is the face Olivia has most of the time I think lol. She’s like… very emotional.

Olivia needs to stop identifying to every person that is in pain that she meets and think she bears the weight of the world’s suffering on her frail little shoulders.

    • I personally think James will divorce Cyrus though.

      I hope so!

Yeah, unfortunately, the part where she learns that he was going to resign anyways became all about Fitz’s self-doubt and his manpain.

You know what I just realized? Every Olitz fight/disagreement turns into Olivia having to pacify Fitz. Every time, that’s always the ending point of the fight: Olivia realizes how Fitz is truly feeling and she gives him support. And the reason for Fitz’s angst changes every time while the reason for Olivia’s angst (which always STARTS the fight/disagreement) stays the same: she thinks what she and Fitz are doing is wrong because he’s married and is president.

She’s the one that lectured Amanda Tanner about what a sex scandal can do to someone’s career, but she hasn’t given a single thought to her own career when her affair with Fitz comes out.

      I know! Ugh.
