I’m having the worst thoughts about JP listening to the shippers and putting those together. A vampire for each girl, yeah?

  1. Lol at the title … don´t think they will put them together. JP would make even more of a joke out of herself after Twittergate and what she said about Kol/Bonnie if she makes this ship canon.

    Did you see this:

What are the major consequences of killing Carol Lockwood (Susan Walters)?
    Julie Plec:
The first repercussion is that the town is short a mayor. When we come back we’ll meet the man who’s been chosen to be the interim mayor of Mystic Falls, Rudy Hopkins, who we’ll quickly learn is Bonnie’s dad. He’s been caught up to speed and filling in the blanks of information that he knew or didn’t know over the years so now he’s playing both the role of concerned mayor for the town and concerned father for his daughter.

How will Bonnie react to him coming to town?
    Plec:
Like any teenager would handle a parent coming back into her life and trying to boss her around.

  2. What does it say about me that I would much rather see Bonnie and Kol than see Bonnie and Jeremy get together again?

Like, I don’t even know how this happened. But I am viscerally opposed to seeing Bonnie with Jeremy again in canon unless it’s in season 27. He can pine for her all he wants with his ‘detour’ but I don’t want Bonnie going back with him. Nope. No. I am not here for that.

    • I don’t know why I’m so opposed to Kol on principle. Maybe because of all the fuckery he’s attached to. Can you imagine Bonnie taking a page out of Caroline’s book and talking to Kol about how Klaus isn’t that bad now that she’s dating him (Kol)? Or she’ll have dinner with the family, including Elijah?

Bonnie can’t just let him in. Or make it easy. Or be receptive to any desires he has for her.

  3. The promo actually made me laugh because I couldnt help thinking about twittergate.
I was all for Bonnie/Kol but the thing is I think I prefer them in fanfiction. The writers especially JP will happily ruin Bonnie and the ship so quickly I have always felt she hated Bonnie fans so I am sure she would take great pleasure lol.
If we look at other couples on the show there is nothing to get excited about.

    • Lol.

Exactly. Kol is part of the Originals; he’s Klaus’ brother, and he’s been shown to have a willingness to harm people like Matt. He hasn’t been written to oppose Klaus. We don’t have any guarantee that Kennett wouldn’t be worse than Klaroline. The writers actually like Caroline and Klaroline. JP said she can see Caroline becoming the second female lead. She pretty much already is. So imagine what they’d do to Bonnie’s character if they put her with a sadistic vampire like Kol.

  4. “The Originals are back.” Nooo. Good thing I won’t be back, lol.

I highly doubt that they would have Bonnie and Kol get together. If the writers were into doing Kennett, I think it would play out more like Klaroline – ~mysterious attraction to a dangerous man and all that. Probably minus the romcom stuff and with less screentime.

Ugh, Stefan is so insufferable. Stfu, nobody cares about your broken heart.

  5. I continue watching Vampire Diaries out of sheer, pointless hope that something good will happen for Bonnie. Elena can go die ( for real this time) for all I care, i’m over the love triangle, and I love Caroline, but the thought of her with Klaus is just stupid. I’m an avid Kennett shipper, because I would love to see some sexy tension between them, but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Julie Blech would completely ruin them for me. This show has really gone to hell, and not even in a cute hand basket!

  6. Seems that something has changed pretty quickly because I remember reading one of the recent interviews with JoMo and it wasn´t mentioned that he would have any interest in Shane:

Jessica: Any scoop on Klaus on The Vampire Diaries?!
Prepare for an epic showdown between Klaus and…Shane! You really didn’t think those two would never come face to face, did you? Especially after Klaus learns that Shane was the mastermind behind the plan to kill 12 hybrids? Yeah, he’s pretty mad. Watch out, Shane!

    Source: http://de.eonline.com/news/372315/spoiler-chat-scoop-on-american-horror-story-vampire-diaries-homeland-smash-and-more?cmpid=eonline-twitter&utm_source=eonline&utm_medium=twitterfeed&utm_campaign=twitterfeed_topstories&dlvrit=48939

How did he get the info about Shane being involved in this? Hayley is out of town and I don´t think she would have told him about Shane.

    • Ha! I don’t know why my first response is “Ha!” But this is making me more confident that Kol is waterboarding Shane on Klaus’ orders.

Hayley’s the only one who could have told Klaus about Shane. She’s the only one who knows.

Thanks for bringing this, Kathrin! Shane somehow survives this and I really hope it isn’t because he outsmarts them or because Klaus decides to keep him around. I want it to be because Bonnie saves him. I want Bonnie to use her powers!

  7. Thanks for bringing over the synopsis, Kathrin! I’ve added it to the opening post. I was away from my apartment for about two days, so I wasn’t checking for TVD spoilers.

So Rudy’s last name is now Owens. Why does that last name sound so familiar? For some reason I feel like it’s been used on TVD before. Weird.

So Matt is at the Lake house? Ugh. There goes my hopes that Bonnie would be chilling with Matt at school. They’re really not sure where to put Matt, are they? How the heck is valuable for Jeremy’s training? Why did he just go to school? Did he just not want to leave Jeremy alone with Damon? I’d accept that, I guess, but only if they say it’s because he thinks Jeremy should have someone he trusts there.

A bombshell piece of information from Elena. Well seeing as each time these summaries have said “Shane reveals an ancient piece of history,” it’s been info that the audience heard already, I’m guessing Elena drops the “bombshell” about the cure being a spell that Silas has.

“The role he suddenly wants to play in her life.” I hope this is referring to him suddenly wanting to police her supernatural life. Because I’ll be pissed if those weird rumors I heard were true, and he’s actually just now getting into town. Wtf? That wouldn’t make any sense.

Damn, is Shane going to get played by Kol? Yay for a Bonnie/Shane scene, I guess. I only say “I guess” because I don’t know what the quality of the scene will be. Hopefully she rescues him from Kol, just so I can see her use her powers and kick Kol’s butt.

Tyler’s going to have a violent confrontation. With Klaus?

I left the Rebekah stuff last for a reason. She’ll be interacting with two very annoying people and one mildly annoying one. I can’t get excited/happy about the scene until I actually see it.

    • So Rudy’s last name is now Owens.

I´m confused about that … JP said in the interview I linked to (in the first comment) that his last name is Hopkins. Did the CW get something wrong? Or JP?

I’m guessing Elena drops the “bombshell” about the cure being a spell that Silas has.

That´s what I´m thinking aswell … does Klaus even know that his sword is useless now?

I´m confused about what is going to happen with Bonnie´s dad and how they will introduce him. Like you I hope they won´t retcon.

Damn, is Shane going to get played by Kol?

But why would he reveal something to an Original? Do you think he knows of the Originals but doesn´t know how the look like?

But Klaus seems to be preoccupied with Jeremy … on the other hand he just seems to be like Damon nowadays and is everywhere.

Did I already post the spoiler about a Breakfast Club-like plot in that episode? Here is the link for it: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mega-Buzz-HIMYM-Dexter-Bones-Spoilers-1057671.aspx

I can’t wait for The Vampire Diaries midseason finale! Any scoop for when it returns? — Sarah
      NATALIE:
The first episode back will mirror The Breakfast Club with several characters stuck in the school library, ultimately revealing things about each other they were hoping to hide. But think more sad and dark, rather than cheery dancing in the halls, as a few of the scenes will force certain truths to come out from both Stefan and Elena that might forever change their relationship.

I guess it´s Rebekah, Stefan, Caroline and Elena together stuck in the school library.
But I remember Kat tweeting a pic from set where she said that she filmed all day and I think it was at school, also in the picture was the skeleton you can see behind Stefan in the promo (that “heartbreak”-scene) … so I think she will be at school at some point of the episode aswell.
I don´t get the breakfast club motive … many shows did it but at least those shows cared about the kids in school. What did we see this season of them attending school?
What is about the stuff JP talked about … that the characters would ask themselves question about their future and so on? Nothing like that really happened and the next episodes are going to be about Silas. And then after that big reveal they are going to ask those questions or what? I don´t think so.

Btw … there is a new Joseph Morgan interview:

“Our heroes are at odds with each other. If they could unite themselves like they did at the end of Season 3, maybe they would have a chance [at killing Klaus], but as long as he can keep manipulating and planting doubt in their minds, they won’t be able to come together and defeat him,” Morgan says. “Everyone has forgotten that they put Klaus down, but Klaus hasn’t forgotten. It’s like lining up chess pieces on a board — everyone is playing against each other and everyone’s arguing!”

      Source and more: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Vampire-Diaries-Joseph-Morgan-Interview-1057965.aspx

I don´t get that … who is he manipulating? Or are we going to see this in the next half of the season.

      • I have no idea. I’m thinking “Owens” is the final last name since it’s in the synopsis. I would hope the CW wouldn’t make such a mistake.

That´s what I´m thinking aswell … does Klaus even know that his sword is useless now?

Of course not. Klaus is always the last to know. Lol.

But why would he reveal something to an Original? Do you think he knows of the Originals but doesn´t know how the look like?

He was intrigued by the fact that Connor had met Klaus. He said he only knew of Klaus by reputation, so I’m thinking he has no idea what the Originals look like. Even still, why would he reveal info to someone he doesn’t know? Do you think he’ll get compelled? That will ruin my Shane is Silas dreams.

I don´t get the breakfast club motive … many shows did it but at least those shows cared about the kids in school. What did we see this season of them attending school?

Ugh. This show just wants to pay homage without putting any feeling behind it. It’s so annoying. The last time any of them sat in a class was episode 3 when Rebekah reminded Elena that she killed Ric.

Yeah, I haven’t seen any of the characters consider their future. Elena said she didn’t think college was in hers, and that’s about it. Bonnie’s been going to Whitmore but only to go to witch therapy.

If they could unite themselves like they did at the end of Season 3, maybe they would have a chance [at killing Klaus],

Uh, is he talking about episode 21 in season 3? Excuse me for not being impressed by that unity. Also, that happened by accident. They meant to take Alaric out. Whatevs.

Shane’s doing more manipulating than Klaus is. Please.

  8. The year’s almost over, but JP gave an interview: http://tvline.com/2012/12/28/vampire-diaries-season-4-spoilers-julie-plec-stefan-elena-damon/

Damon was a little bit late in his realization that he was being selfish and needed to do the right thing by Stefan.

His lateness was unnecessary. It’s tiring to have to read people asking “How will the Salvabro relationship be affected?” Their relationship is always affected the same way. The.same.way.

When the break-up is civil, it’s usually the beginning of some pretty dark stuff still to come. The calmer the break-up, the worse the fallout.

Unless you’re Bonnie and Jeremy. If you’re Bonnie and Jeremy, you break up and then act like you never went out. You don’t even get scenes.

TVLINE | Are Caroline and Tyler OK?
Tyler’s going to struggle, and Caroline’s going to struggle in trying to help him. But if there’s one thing those two have proven again and again, it’s that when situations are at their most dire and their most extreme, they find a way to be there for each other. I think we can rest easy that that won’t have changed yet.

Somebody PLEASE tell me what Forwood has that Beremy didn’t that they can last for this long despite Caroline blatantly not being here for Tyler. Really? This is insulting.

The beauty of Klaus, much like Damon, is that his horrible misdeeds are all born out of a place of a complete lack of trust and faith as a result of being repeatedly betrayed and rejected in his life. I’m not saying I excuse his horrific behavior, but it’s born from a very human place. Once someone’s got a strong core of humanity, there’s hope for them – [they may] just not necessarily wake up tomorrow as Man of the Year. Klaus will continue to be a very complicated character. Much like Damon in the first couple seasons, when he feels backed up against the wall, he lashes out in very, very destructive ways. It makes it impossible to forgive. And yet, the redemption of Klaus as a character-long arc is something we always talk about.

    *SCREAMS*

There isn’t beauty in Klaus. There isn’t beauty in how he (and Damon) is written.

TVD is the show where villains come to be redeemed and it’s boring as hell.

It’s annoying that she can show these people whose misdeeds are “born out of a place of complete lack of trust and faith” and yet she won’t spotlight their victims. At all.

Screw her, tbh. Damon grew up in a MUCH better situation than Klaus. His father criticized him. It didn’t look anything like Klaus’ situation. What’s Damon got to distrusting and faithless about? Does she remember that Damon decided to be an asshole because Katherine turned Stefan too, not just him?

Yes you DO excuse his horrific behavior. You didn’t just give an explanation, you codified it as beautiful.

Shane/Bonnie is so not going to happen.

Her Beremy answer is whatever. I don’t like her.

She’s missed a lot. So [in] her efforts to try to get information out of everybody…she gets caught up on the goings-on in Mystic Falls in her absence, including that Stefan and Elena are broken up, that Elena slept with Damon, that there’s a sire bond at play, that the cure hasn’t been found yet – all kinds of great things which she gets out of them in the form of a pretty malicious detention at school.

Um. Only 2 out of those 4 things should be of any interest to Rebekah. She gets “caught up” in Stelena’s break up and Delena’s sex life?

    Who allowed JP to write?

    • Damon was a little bit late in his realization that he was being selfish and needed to do the right thing by Stefan.

In what world is Damon “breaking the sire-bond” (Is that what happened? It doesn’t make sense) about doing the right thing to *Stefan*?? Ugh, this is so frustrating. I can’t.
What is Stefan feeling betrayed about?

When the break-up is civil, it’s usually the beginning of some pretty dark stuff still to come. The calmer the break-up, the worse the fallout.

      Erm… no?!
      Dark = gross

Tyler’s going to struggle, and Caroline’s going to struggle in trying to help him.

I want so much more for Caroline.

Screaming right along with you about that terrible, horrible paragraph about Damon/Klaus.

Yes you DO excuse his horrific behavior. You didn’t just give an explanation, you codified it as beautiful.

Yes! She totaly excuses it. She says that *all* their horrible deeds stem from them being rejected/betrayed. That’s an over-simplification and simply not true. Plus, she makes it sound like it’s cause and effect. Where’s the part about this being their life choices?

Once someone’s got a strong core of humanity, there’s hope for them

What does that even mean? The bit about “a strong core of humanity”?

Much like Damon in the first couple seasons, when he feels backed up against the wall, he lashes out in very, very destructive ways.

So Klaus is our ersatz Damon? Is that it? Is that why he’s still around? Because they love them a “bad boy” lashing out? And they can’t have that with Damon anymore because of his ~progress?

And yet, the redemption of Klaus as a character-long arc is something we always talk about.

Cackling, tbh. Of course, it is.
So, I guess this means that we’re never going to get rid of Klaus again? Cause I still had hopes for him dying at the end of S4.
Does this mean Klaroline will happen in some capacity?

Shane/Bonnie is so not going to happen.

We never stood a chance. 😦 I wonder if that possibility ever crossed the writers’ mind, what with them being busy with thinking about Klaus’ possible redemption.

Ugh, poor Rebekah. The reach of this triangle…
Also, poor Rebekah in regards to her relationship with Klaus. Like, with the way JP is talking about Klaus, I feel there’s no chance for Rebekah of getting out of that abusive relationship. And, yeah, that can be a valid story-telling choice – that the victim doesn’t get out. But on TVD? Where the focus will be on Klaus’ side of things, his pain, his abusive behaviour towards her and his possible ~redemption? That doesn’t make me feel good things. I fear that Rebekah (and Caroline, tbh) is just going to be a prop in his ~redemption arc.

      • In what world is Damon “breaking the sire-bond” (Is that what happened? It doesn’t make sense) about doing the right thing to *Stefan*??

In JP’s world, where Elena is actually very unimportant. Who cares about doing right by her, amirite? It’s incredible how the producers, writers, interviewers, and Fandom have banded together in not giving a rat’s behind about Elena. Because as soon as the sire bond thing came up, Fandom’s line was “How can Damon do this to Stefan?! Stefan deserves better!”

Stefan bringing up Damon’s lateness in breaking the sire bond (and ignoring the fact that Elena herself WANTED to keep the sire bond) is going to be annoying as hell. I don’t think anyone’s ever given Stefan a time table to “do the right thing” the way he’s about to do to Damon. Ugh.

        Erm… no?!
        Dark = gross

I didn’t even notice her use of the word “dark?” The heck does that mean, JP?

Where’s the part about this being their life choices?

What is accountability? Don’t you know? Only Bonnie suffers consequences for her actions, because only Bonnie makes life choices. Everyone else (the dudes) are just doing this because of their ~terrible pasts.

What does that even mean? The bit about “a strong core of humanity”?

Being able to like a girl who doesn’t want you? That’s what happened to Damom (twice, until Elena grew into him), and it’s what’s happening to Klaus. “A strong core of humanity” doesn’t actually mean treating people better.

We never stood a chance. I wonder if that possibility ever crossed the writers’ mind, what with them being busy with thinking about Klaus’ possible redemption.

;____;. I’m pretty sure the possibility did cross their minds. It went like this:

“People will expect this to develop into a romance,” said Caroline Dries.

“It won’t. The fans complain that the show has too many romances. We can use this to give them a little bit of what they want. Interaction between a new male and an established female character that does not evolve into romance,” said JP proudly.

Because Bonnie must always be the example of the exception when she’s trying to prove a point. Look at how the Beremy breakup was a clean break that didn’t turn into a back and forth thing like with Tyler/Caroline, etc.

Like, with the way JP is talking about Klaus, I feel there’s no chance for Rebekah of getting out of that abusive relationship.

What abusive relationship? See, that’s the thing. JP doesn’t seem to recognize abusive relationships for the women. Certainly not Caroline, and now not Rebekah, and never Elena. See, the guys have “terrible/horrible” pasts that influence their nasty attitudes and actions. The women? Eh. I’m now thinking of the interviews and articles that have glossed over Klaus’ treatment of Rebekah, ESPECIALLY after the ep where he recently daggered her. Heck, I think the most recent interview about them (the one with JoMo) makes a point to talk about how Klaus loves Rebekah and they’ve been together forever.

Only men (and the nastiest of men, at that, because Tyler is doing fine after Richard, who’s abuse of Tyler has been forgotten about, and Jeremy’s doing A-okay after Elena’s mental abuse) are able to have someone mistreat them and have that develop into distrust and lack of faith. The women just truck along, their abuse unacknowledged.

And, yeah, that can be a valid story-telling choice – that the victim doesn’t get out. But on TVD?

But on TVD the victim never gets out. Not if they’re women. They’re not even acknowledged as victims. Caroline didn’t get out, Andie didn’t get out, Rebekah’s not getting out, Elena’s thing with Damon has morphed into love, her thing with Stefan was branded as love a long time ago and the problematic aspect of their relationship (lately) is not being acknowledged.

But Klaus got out. He killed his mother and he recently killed his father. And since JP wants to put Damon in that same category, he also made a way out for himself. But not the women!

        • Who cares about doing right by her, amirite? It’s incredible how the producers, writers, interviewers, and Fandom have banded together in not giving a rat’s behind about Elena.

          It’s mind-boggling.
I suppose in JP’s world the sire-bond isn’t that much of a big deal for Elena since it ‘only affects actions and not emotions’. My goodness. The horribleness of this show. And the stupidity.

And the other half of the fandom was like, “Poor Damon! How tragic for him, he truly is the show’s emotional punching-bag.” -.-

I didn’t even notice her use of the word “dark?” The heck does that mean, JP?

That Stefan’s going to be extra gross.

“A strong core of humanity” doesn’t actually mean treating people better.

That’s impossible for them!! They lack trust and faith because
          they’ve been rejected so much!

Because Bonnie must always be the example of the exception when she’s trying to prove a point. Look at how the Beremy breakup was a clean break that didn’t turn into a back and forth thing like with Tyler/Caroline, etc.

          That’s very true. 😦

          The women?

Get close-ups of their tear-streaked faces and some extra emphasis on their helplessness in the face of their abusers.

This is true. Coming to think of it, there’s a lot romanticization when it comes to Klaus/Rebekah that seems to stem from the “always and forever” scene in Ordinary People. Like, I feel Rebekah sticking by Kaus is often seen as just an example of sibling love. (And of course fandom loves female characters standing by their fave male characters no matter what.)

But on TVD the victim never gets out. Not if they’re women. They’re not even acknowledged as victims.

          😦

          • I suppose in JP’s world the sire-bond isn’t that much of a big deal for Elena since it ‘only affects actions and not emotions’.

You know it. That’s probably why we’re focusing on Damon and Stefan’s reactions rather than Elena’s. Because according to JP, it’s just another day for Elena.

And the other half of the fandom was like, “Poor Damon! How tragic for him, he truly is the show’s emotional punching-bag.” -.-

            :/ Ugh.

That Stefan’s going to be extra gross.

Don’t you mean….rootable? Poor Stefan! This is why Defan needs to be the endgame!!!111&&&

That’s impossible for them!! They lack trust and faith because
            they’ve been rejected so much!

            -____-

I meant Matt/Caroline. For some reason, Tyler and Caroline have yet to breakup.

Get close-ups of their tear-streaked faces and some extra emphasis on their helplessness in the face of their abusers.

This show. I rue the day I started watching it.

Coming to think of it, there’s a lot romanticization when it comes to Klaus/Rebekah that seems to stem from the “always and forever” scene in Ordinary People.

Yep. And even when people do talk about their effed up dynamic…I don’t know. I wonder if they realize that it’s only effed up because of how Klaus treats Rebekah? What effed up thing does Rebekah bring to the table? What does she do to Klaus? Especially when the writers are debasing her more and more so she can be poor little Rebekah? Like, we’ve come a long way (down) from Klaus manhandling her in the 3.04 flashbakcs to how he spoke to her in the ep where he daggered her. How does she treat Klaus? The abuse in that relationship isn’t mutual. It’s one-sided, and of course it’s on the side of the male character since this is a M/F relationship, and that doesn’t grip me. Heck, abuse of any kind doesn’t grip me, otherwise I’d be all over the Salvatores’ mutual destruction crap.

            • Late reply is late…

You know it. That’s probably why we’re focusing on Damon and Stefan’s reactions rather than Elena’s. Because according to JP, it’s just another day for Elena.

This reminds me that somebody (it might’ve been you on the podcast or somewhere on this blog, I can’t remember) pointed out that when it came to the sire bond between Klaus and Tyler the writers had the sired person be the one who found a way to break the bond and regain his autonomy. But when it comes to the D/E sire bond, it’s the other way round: the sire (they guy) is the one with the power to break it and it’s his decision what he does with the sire bond. The sired person (a woman) is left completely passive in this case. :/

This is why Defan needs to be the endgame!!!111&&&

Are there many hardcore Defan stans? And not just fans who mainly ship DE/SE and also like Defan? What a frustrating ship, tbh.

This show. I rue the day I started watching it.

How different everything would have been if the show had been cancelled after S1. We all would’ve been convinced that we missed out on a good show. Lol.

              • This reminds me that somebody (it might’ve been you on the podcast or somewhere on this blog, I can’t remember) pointed out that when it came to the sire bond between Klaus and Tyler the writers had the sired person be the one who found a way to break the bond and regain his autonomy. I don’t think that came from me (unless my memory is failing me), but it’s a good point. Also: when it was a guy who was sired, it was just this horrible thing, or at least it became such a thing. But in the case of not one but two women, it’s presented as romantic. They have to have feeeeeelings first. The sire bond can’t exist unless they felt something for the guy first. In Charlotte’s case, the only bad thing was that she became too overzealous for Damon. And in Elena’s case, the only bad thing is…..well first it was that her feelings for him might not be real (-___-) and now it’s that Damon wasn’t being honorable towards Stefan.

One thing (sire bond) presented two different ways, and it coincides with gender.

Are there many hardcore Defan stans? And not just fans who mainly ship DE/SE and also like Defan? What a frustrating ship, tbh.

I’m not sure, but the ones I see the most are Bamon fans who hate or don’t like Elena.

How different everything would have been if the show had been cancelled after S1. We all would’ve been convinced that we missed out on a good show. Lol.

Right? Lol. Little would we have known that the show only had one good year left.

        • In JP’s world, where Elena is actually very unimportant

That reminds me of a article JP retweeted somewhere between the holidays and I just saw it recently: http://io9.com/5971148/why-damons-sire-bond-is-one-of-the-vampire-diaries-best-ideas-ever
She was very grateful to the author of that article (probably also because of the person comparing her to Joss Whedon, I guess) according to her tweet.
In that article (I don´t know if that site or author of the article has some importance, but it was important enough for JP to retweet it) it´s not even a storyline for Elena, it´s only a storyline for Damon and I think that´s JP´s mindset for the sirebond aswell. And it´s gross.

  9. Vague Tyler spoiler: http://www.tvguide.com/News/MegaBuzz-Castle-Fringe-POI-1058417.aspx

Also, the fact that 4.11 will air right after 4.10 makes it pointless to do a spoiler chat about it in the 4.10 podcast, so feel free to talk about the spoiler that is the ep summary in this thread: http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/01/the-vampire-diaries-episode-411-catch.html

Jeremy is furious when Klaus tries to control him by putting Matt’s life in danger.

    Good.

    Damon coaches Jeremy…..

    NO.

Kol makes it clear that he will stop at nothing to convince everyone to give up the search for the cure.

    GOOD. Olu will be happy.

Looking for a new ally, Rebekah reminds Stefan that they were once close friends.

You know, when Klaus screwed Stefan over by compelling him (the second time), Stefan was allowed to feel that Klaus had screwed him over and he was allowed to not want anything to do with Klaus. Can we NOT? Stefan helped Klaus dagger Rebekah. He played her and tricked her and used her, and she realized that, but now she’s going to try to butter him up, try to win him over, by reminding him of the times they had? Times that he’s never given a crap about, not even after he got his memories back? Rly?

When Sheriff Forbes and Mayor Hopkins question Shane about his involvement in the Founders’ Council deaths, Bonnie steps in with questions of her own, and Shane’s responses push Bonnie to the edge of her powers.

Number 1, why is Sheriff Forbes back? Number 2, Bonnie was taking baby steps as of episode 8. She could only flicker some lights. Suddenly she’s going to be pushed to the edge of her powers? What, is she going to make some water boil? Are we at the point in the season, same as season 3, where Bonnie goes from de-powered to super-powered because the producers don’t think witches are worth a damn?

It seems it will be Shane who pisses Bonnie off? It doesn’t seem like she’s mad because her dad is questioning him. I’ll just wait and see, because this story slowed down too much for my liking, and we know Bonnie hasn’t been angry since, like, she broke up with Jeremy.

Elena negotiates with Klaus to keep Jeremy safe, but when danger suddenly appears from a totally unexpected enemy, Elena comes up with her own daring plan for Jeremy.

No. No. Let’s go back to Jeremy being pissed at Klaus.

Narducci wrote this, so YAY for Bonnie, but Narducci is also on some “I want Elena to DO things” kick, so that’s probably why she’s saving Jeremy just like she did in the last ep he wrote (4.05, The Killer).

Brian Young also wrote this. His episodes don’t tend to feature much Bonnie (and that’s when she’s in the ep). The most Bonnie-heavy episode he wrote was The Ties That Bind, and that would mean something to me if that episode wasn’t supposed to feature a lot of Bonnie. But it was. He just happened to write it. So here’s hoping Narducci wrote the Bonnie (and magic) parts of this ep.

I’m pretty meh on this summary, except for the Jeremy getting pissed at Klaus part. I’ll feel more things after I see what 4.10 gives us.

I just realized that Kol will be with us for two eps in a row.

Oh my God, guys. What if they rob me of my dream of Bonnie killing Kol and have Klaus kill him for his insolence about this cure stuff?

  10. I never got the chance to post the following spoilers for discussion. They were supposed to be discussed on the podcasts, but I scrapped them since I realized the podcasts would be posted late:

New characters that will appear in episode 13: http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/11/10-spoilers-justified-season-4-scoop-bones-seeking-brennans-mom-and-damons-newest-vampire-diaries-fo.html

The people who will play those characters: http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/11/the-vampire-diaries-casts-twilights-charlie-bewley-and-prison-breaks-camille-guaty.html

I wonder if Camille Guaty will made to pass as White. Considering her character’s name is Caitlin, I have an inclination of what the answer is.

  11. I see JP is still talking and I don´t want to read it and see the stuff she is talking about. Nothing new.

Have to look through the spoilers to catch up on what I missed.

  12. Why is Hayley being credited with helping Tyler break the sire bond? I’m editing the 4.07 podcast, and I said on there that Hayley is the one with the answer, but this thought occurred to me: Tyler breaking the sire bond involved….doing what Bill told Tyler to do. The other Hybrids broke the sire bond by doing what Bill told Tyler to do for the same reason that Bill told Tyler to do it.

Like, Hayley didn’t add anything to that. At all. But the show/Tyler talks about her like she actually taught Tyler something. She acts like she’s Tyler’s right hand and his mentor, but she didn’t actually teach him anything. :/

  13. These vampires spiral because of the smallest things: http://www.tvguide.com/News/MegaBuzz-Once-HIMYM-Revolution-1058610.aspx

It’s like they look for reasons to spiral.

Might Stefan be getting his sexual groove back?

I feel sorry for Rebekah though, of course. He used her, made fun of her, demeaned her, has no respect for her. So yeah! He’s totally a keeper!

But it says he’ll be helped by a blonde. Just helped, so it might be Caroline and it might just be platonic. We know Caroline is Stefan’s personal one-woman cheering squad.

    • Thanks, Kathrin!

So, it’s Matt that Jeremy is flipping over.

I don’t get what the point of Damon is. Jeremy’s already stabbed Stefan and Elena. Yeah, he had the element of surprise in both cases, but I’m beyond tired of Damon being the most badass vampire of all time, the exception to the rule, unable to get got, etc.

      • I like the Matt/Jeremy interaction and I like Matt being concerned for Jeremy. But I just can´t deal with Damon/Jeremy interactions if they don´t end in Jeremy staking Damon. And I´m feeling uncomfortable with that last sequence because it reminds me strongly of Damon breaking Jeremy´s neck.

I’m beyond tired of Damon being the most badass vampire of all time, the exception to the rule, unable to get got, etc.

        Same here.

        • And I´m feeling uncomfortable with that last sequence because it reminds me strongly of Damon breaking Jeremy´s neck.

How was Jeremy not triggered by that?

What are the chances that Jeremy really will stab Damon before the episode ends? I must remember that JP doesn’t like setting her characters up with a problem/obstacle at the beginning of the episode and letting them succeed in the end. She doesn’t like doing that so she never does it.

    • Jesus Christ, please let this flop spectacularly. Are they serious? They aren’t serious. Please tell me they aren’t serious! “The Originals?” REALLY? Klaus helped build New Orleans? Why do I feel like that’s offensive?

Why is Phoebe Tonkin going to be on it?

      • According to Carina only the Pilot of the show is called “The Originals” but not the show itself. Other than the idea being ridiculous according to that description it is only about Klaus and his friend Marcel or something. No mention of the other Originals. So why should this Pilot be called “The Originals”?

Why is Phoebe Tonkin going to be on it?

Maybe because JP loves her but she realized that her character doesn´t work on TVD? IDK.

Also something else that Carina tweeted was that apparently JP and Michael Narducci visited New Orleans to look for some sets, and they probably want to try to rebuilt them somewhere else (maybe also where they shoot TVD?).
I just hope that Narducci isn´t leaving TVD for this show (if they pick up the Pilot) because at least he is capable tp write for Bonnie and magic the other ones in the writers room are not.
But maybe he is only writing the Pilot with JP and that´s why visited New Orleans with JP.

        • So why should this Pilot be called “The Originals”?

Good question. Nice to see that the show is starting out bad.

Maybe because JP loves her but she realized that her character doesn´t work on TVD? IDK.

More like the WB/CW loves her. I heard they’re the ones who pushed for her to be on it.

I just hope that Narducci isn´t leaving TVD for this show (if they pick up the Pilot) because at least he is capable tp write for Bonnie and magic the other ones in the writers room are not.

Oh my God, I don’t want him to leave!!!!

          • More like the WB/CW loves her. I heard they’re the ones who pushed for her to be on it.

They probably saw that idea floating around in social media (twitter, facebook, tumblr) and thought they could make money with it.

I also don´t want him to leave … but maybe he is just writing that TVD episode where this setting for the spinoff is introduced and that´s why they visited New Orleans.

            • I also don´t want him to leave … but maybe he is just writing that TVD episode where this setting for the spinoff is introduced and that´s why they visited New Orleans.

              I hope that’s it.

              • Look at this 😦

Would you have the title of showrunner on both shows?

I think. Truthfully, we haven’t talked about that other than that I would likely share that title with Caroline Dries on The Vampire Diaries and then be the showrunner on The Originals. The great thing about The Vampire Diaries is that Caroline has really come into her own over the three-plus years she’s been on the show and is a terrific leader, and an amazing writer, and knows the show inside and out. So I would still be there every step of the way, but she would be taking on a lot more responsibility than she already has. And Mike Narducci, who’s someone else who’s been very important on The Vampire Diaries, would come over to The Originals and take up the mantle there. So with luck, two brilliant people who’ve grown up in a Vampire Diaries universe can continue to be brilliant as we split it over two shows.

                Source: http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/01/16/vampire-diaries-originals-spinoff-julie-plec/

I hope it fails and Narducci comes back.

    • Ehh… So JP was serious all those times during S3 when she talked about a spin-off about the Originals.

I don’t understand what this show is supposed to be about? It can’t be about Klaus being evil, evil, evil and going on killing sprees. Is it going to be about his ~redemption? Oh my, I can see JP and the other TVD writers sitting in the writers’ room and talking about Klaus’ possible redemption and then sighing that they can’t do that because they’ve already too many heroes on TVD.

So I guess Klaus would be the protoganist and Rebekah and Kol would be regs too, while Elijah remains a guest-star because of DG’s involvement in “Saving Hope”? (Btw, I can already see the Elijah stans complaining that JP does not care about their fave, lol.) And every other episode would feature a flashback because that’s very interesting?

      • Is it going to be about his ~redemption?

It’s going to be like Damon getting his own show, only worse because Klaus was/is supposed to be a villain.

She has said that they’ve spoken about Klaus’ redemption many times in the writers’ room.

        It sounds like a nightmare.

  14. I can’t believe they’re thinking of giving the originals a spin-off. LOL What exactly would this supposed spin-off be about? How will it be different from TVD? I can’t stop laughing at this, but I have a feeling it won’t get picked up anyway, I’d be surprised if it actually did. On the bright side, this might mean the show will focus more on the regulars (Matt, Tyler, Bonnie) if there’s no Originals hogging up the screen-time and such. Maybe.. Or not, I’ve learned not to expect much from this show.

    • On the bright side, this might mean the show will focus more on the regulars (Matt, Tyler, Bonnie)

That’s the only bright side. It’ll be so weird having the Originals gone. But that’s only if the show gets picked up. If it flops, we’ll still be stuck with Klaus, right?

I cannot believe that instead of killing Klaus, JP is giving him his own show.

    • Thanks, Kathrin!

Is JP “borrowing” from Teen Wolf with this trapping people in the school with werewolf!Tyler business?

Why will Tyler turn? Klaus isn’t even in the school. Is Rebekah going to make him angry and that will trigger the transition? Wouldn’t being a Hybrid prevent that from happening, since being a Hybrid is all about being in control?

What are the chances Elena’s saying that line to Stefan? I would be so happy! But JP hates me, so she’s probs talking to Rebekah or Caroline.

I’m sorry, but does Caroline even know how to use a steak?

      GO REBEKAH!!!!!!!

So they want to stake Rebekah? I thought killing an entire bloodline of vampires was totes bad. I hate this show.

      • Totally forgot that they did the same on Teen Wolf.

I don´t know why he would turn, especially if his greatest love Caroline is in the building. I don´t get it. Is it possible that Rebekah could compel him to turn?
Also shouldn´t she be concerned that Tyler in his rage could also bite her? But oh I forgot she would only be affected for some hours not like the normal vampire who is going to die.

I think she is talking to Rebekah, she is probably taunting Elena about the sirebond and then that´s Elena´s comeback, We know that Rebekah knows how to push her buttons.

I’m sorry, but does Caroline even know how to use a steak?

Lol freudian slip? But I thought the same. I would think that Stefan wants to take the stake because he would be sure of himself that he could finish the job, but look how much he trusts Caroline with that. They are bffs. Epic friendship.

        This show.

  15. New season 4 promo pics, all about the Trio!

    http://www.spoilertv.co.uk/images/the-vampire-diaries/Season%204/Cast%20Promotional%20Photos/January%202013%20Marketing/

I almost want to ask what this set of picture have to do with the last two set of pictures (and what THOSE sets of pictures have to do with each other), both sartorially and thematically speaking, but I’ll just pretend that I don’t care.

Why do they make Ian strike the same pose in every promo pic?

  16. I don´t get why Caroline has to be in that room with Stefan, Elena and Rebekah. She is of no importance for Rebekah. It´s just like they need Caroline present in everything even though she doesn´t have a storyline. She is probably just there so that Tyler comes to school.

Here is an interview with Claire where she speaks more about what Rebekah is going to do with the group and what´s Kol role is going to be. He is not Klaus´s henchman but Rebekah´s

    http://www.tvguide.com/News/Vampire-Diaries-Bite-Rebekah-Stefan-1059190.aspx

    • They’ve always had the blonde vampire tension going on, but Rebekah is the boss and they have to shut up and listen.”

      What?

Only on TVD would, “Might psychological torture lead to romance?” be a legitimate question. I’m guessing it’s referring to Stefan and Rebekah.

Two bucks says the torture won’t be uncomfortable at all because it’s about romance and not the characters as themselves.

      Why is Caroline “playing along?”

You know who else kind of doesn’t need to be there? Elena. Rebekah’s beef should only be with Stefan, really. Elena wasn’t in on Stefan’s plan.

  17. A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR REBEKAH!!!! She was a delight. I dread the day when she’ll revert. Because you know she’ll revert.

She was the best part of this episode. Her questions actually impressed me. Probably because she did most of the talking.

I spent the whole episode thinking April was sired. Turns out she wasn’t. I’m not excited, but I will say good for her. Love how easy it is for a teenager to get a meeting with both the sheriff and the interim mayor together. Speaking of Rudy,

I liked the introduction of Bonnie’s dad. The best part was Bonnie ranting about him! YES!!!! More of that! It was refreshing to watch Bonnie rant about someone in her life.

SHANE GAVE HER QETSYIAH’S NECKLACE!!!! I’m soooo here for it, you guys. It’s making up for the fact that I don’t believe Shane is Silas anymore. That’s a damn shame, but Bonnie has Qetsyiah’s necklace!

Shane’s explanation of Expression clashes with Nandi’s. They need to stop making him lie. I need a gem of truth here.

I loved that his feathers were ruffled at the end with Bonnie. It was nice to see him be something other than the understanding professor with her.

I just ranted about Stefan on tumblr because someone tried to tell me he’s good, so I’ll save my real thoughts for him for the podcast. I will say though that he looked like a straight up villain in his last scene. There’s something ugly trying to spring forth. Something about Stefan NOT want to be the unchosen one wrt Damon. Think about it: this guy has been winning for a century. And now he’s being told that his brother has something that he doesn’t have. Something that makes someone happy! And he’s not going to take that sitting down.

TYLER! Okay first: Caroline needs to go. She needs to gooooo. Why does she say Tyler’s name like he’s doing something wrong? He can leave the memorial thing if he wants to. It’s his mother. What the heck?

Him crying about Carol and the Hybrids. Ugh. Broke my heart.

The Originals know about Silas, and I’m not crazy about that. Of course they know about him. There’s no such thing as new information.

Kol was good in this ep.

Damon, Matt, and Jeremy weren’t needed. They really weren’t. BUT I can’t believe they entirety of the trailer for next week focused on Jeremy.
