  1. I feel comfortable admitting that I’m looking forward to the Klaus/Stefan scenes for two reasons:

    1) I am a shipper
    2) It will be interesting to see the change in their interactions now that Stefan has turned his sense of right and wrong/emotions off.

Not that I expect much when it comes to #2 since Stefan is working with Mikael more or less.

What if Klaus’s latest plan really is to be Homecoming King?

I wish there were Bonnie stills. Good to know that Caroline is going to be around. I still wish that Matt hated Elena.

    My one and only prediction:

No one except for Elena and Damon will comment on Stefan or Klaus. Maybe Caroline. Long stretch maybe. Maybe Bonnie, but I feel like that confrontation is coming later.

    • What if Klaus’s latest plan really is to be Homecoming King?

      Lol!!!

It seems Caroline is going to get a scene with Stefan, so she’ll probably say something. Something encouraging.

I’m not looking forward to anything. This past episode killed my enthusiasm.

      • It seems Caroline is going to get a scene with Stefan, so she’ll probably say something. Something encouraging.

Well. At least she’ll say something, I guess.

I’m not looking forward to anything. This past episode killed my enthusiasm.

I’ve got to hold onto the little things or else this show really does have me trapped in a cycle of horrible storylines. Which it does, but setting my expectations low helps. Though Ordinary People managed to not reach my low expectations for it so maybe I should just give up.

      • First of all, I´m with all of you – laughing at the title. I can´t believe, they did something like that.

It seems Caroline is going to get a scene with Stefan, so she’ll probably say something. Something encouraging.

I saw a gif of that scene (out of the promo) … and it isn´t Stefan who Caroline is looking at. It´s Matt. I double-checked it because I was so angry that Caroline probably gets a scene with him before Bonnie.

I seriously hope that Bonnie is at that dance, Do you have hopes that she will play a significant role in this episode?

Can´t really make out the plan they are scheming but it looks like it is very convenient that Elena was professionally trained in staking dummies. Now she can show us, what her “sexy” training scenes with Damon achieved.

Do you think that Caroline and Matt are involved in the plan? Or are they only bystanders … because in of the promos it seriously looks like Matt is compelled as he says “Plans has changed” or is it only Zachs line delivery?
I had a thought that he could play one of Rebekahs toys and pretending to be compelled by her and lure Klaus out of the dance. Don´t know if Rebekah is really totally on their side and it would be cool, if she betrays them. Because I don´t want that plan to work.
Mainly because I don´t trust this Mikael guy and I want them to see that it was a mistake to wake him up.

        • Oh.

Nope. She’s “Also stars.” I did see a flash of her at the dance in the extended promo. She looked…pretty happy.

I thought Matt sounded/looked weird too. I don’t know if I want him to be compelled again, simply because I don’t know if they’d actually do something with it this time.

I’d love for Rebekah to betray them. Or at least go off the book and actually succeed (Damon breaks from the team all the time). I mainly don’t want their plan to work because I’m bitter they’re neutering Bonnie to make Elena work.

          • I did see a flash of her at the dance in the extended promo. She looked…pretty happy.

Really I must have missed it … first I saw someone with a tiara and thought that could be Bonnie -. but couldn´t believe that she would be promqueen – then I checked and it wasn´t her.
Could you please point out the time you saw her … I want to see her dress.

I thought Matt sounded/looked weird too. I don’t know if I want him to be compelled again, simply because I don’t know if they’d actually do something with it this time.

That would be a parallel to Masquerade but I´m with you on that I don´t want him to be compelled, that´s why I thought he could fake it if he is involved in the plan. Or are only Damon/Elena/Stefan/Mikael/Rebekah working “together”?

I mainly don’t want their plan to work because I’m bitter they’re neutering Bonnie to make Elena work.

That´s what I thought too … also last episode as Bonnie was in the cave (why was she in this episode, she only was there to bring the necklace. I thought we would see some talk between Elena and Bonnie or them working together but nothing happened) and Elena comes in and smarts out Alaric the new cave paintings specialist with a quick look on the paintings. And Bonnie only sits there in the background. I really hated last episode for real.

            • Really I must have missed it … first I saw someone with a tiara and thought that could be Bonnie -. but couldn´t believe that she would be promqueen – then I checked and it wasn´t her.
Could you please point out the time you saw her … I want to see her dress.

Lmao, that’s the part I was talking about. That’s not her? I was wondering why she had a tiara. But it didn’t look like a homecoming tiara, it looked like something from a costume.

Or are only Damon/Elena/Stefan/Mikael/Rebekah working “together”?

I think so. And even then, it’s really only Elena and Damon who are working together. JP previewed the episode in an interview, and she said Damon and Elena feel like they can’t trust anyone. Yeah. I wish I could find it again. It came out early last week.

              • Lmao, that’s the part I was talking about. That’s not her? I was wondering why she had a tiara. But it didn’t look like a homecoming tiara, it looked like something from a costume.

No I´m doubting myself … perhaps she is it. But then why are all characters so tense and look so worried and Bonnie is the only one who enjoys the party?

it’s really only Elena and Damon who are working together. JP previewed the episode in an interview, and she said Damon and Elena feel like they can’t trust anyone. Yeah. I wish I could find it again. It came out early last week.

Yes. I read that too … and had to roll my eyes. If your name isn´t Alaric, Damon or Stefan at the moment you won´t have a “meaningful” conversation with Elena at the moment.
I thought we would see more friends stuff … at the moment I only saw Caroline and Bonnie really talk … don´t want to mention the conversations Caroline and Elena had about Damon.

But I thought it was only a commentary of the writer of the article … did JP really say that? Then it is sad. But after her tweet for last episode we know what her priorities are

                • But then why are all characters so tense and look so worried and Bonnie is the only one who enjoys the party?

I’ve actually always wanted something like that. Because for a long time Bonnie was off being tense all by herself while Stefan/Damon/Elena “bantered,” Caroline and Stefan got close, etc. I’ve always wanted a time when everyone was panicking and everything was going to hell for them, and Bonnie was feeling the happiest/lightest she’s ever felt.

Do you still have the article? Could you link it please?

                  • You´re right about that … but with who is she partying? Because if the girl with the tiara is Bonnie it looks like she is going through the crowd with somebody. Who wil be the next Not-Now-Dana and 3rd-Period-Chad?
                    We will see.

Do you still have the article? Could you link it please?

Sorry, I don´t have a link because it was a post on a forum and I think the user scanned their magazine article, so here is the quote:

I just got my new TV Guide (Nov. 7 – 13th issue) and there is a new spoiler for the “Homecoming” Episode of TVD, which airs on Nov. 10th

It’s party time – again – in Mystic Falls, so get ready to rumble. As My Morning Jacket plays at the homecoming dance in The Vampire Diaries’ mid-season finale, Damon, Elena and Stefan put into action what executive producer Julie Plec calls “the perfect diabolical plan” to defeat powerful hybrid Klaus. ” They believe they finally have the weapon to bring him down: Mikael, the terrifying ancient vampire who is ready to rid the planet of Klaus.” But the stakes are high: There’s no one Damon and Elena can really trust – that includes newbie hybrid Tyler and Stefan, who’s still compelled to obey Klaus. Expect “some serious action,” says Joseph Morgan (Klaus). “And a confrontation between Damon and Klaus that’s bigger than we’ve seen before.

It´s on this site, the last post on the page: http://forums.vampire-diaries.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7886&start=130

                    • The Vampire Diaries’ mid-season finale, Damon, Elena and Stefan put into action what executive producer Julie Plec calls “the perfect diabolical plan” to defeat powerful hybrid Klaus.

If there were ever a set of words that made no sense sharing the same sentence, they have been found. “Perfect diabolical plan” my ass.

                    • “And a confrontation between Damon and Klaus that’s bigger than we’ve seen before.

Unless one of them dies, this is a lie.

                    • Lol, for real. Nothing’s going to explode though I’m sure the camera will do that shaky thing it likes to do when two vampires are fighting.

                    • If there were ever a set of words that made no sense sharing the same sentence, they have been found. “Perfect diabolical plan” my ass.

Lmao. Especially what´s so diabolical about it … without Mikael they couldn´t do sh**. It was his idea to lure Klaus back to Mystic Falls.

Unless one of them dies, this is a lie.

Jep. So does this mean we need a new coffin for Klaus?

                    • A perfect diabolical plan that they will come up with and execute within the span of one ep. Ok then.

At this point, I want Elena to blink out of existence like Peter from Fringe. Except I don’t want her to come back. The world will be better off and everyone will have to deal with each other without this convenient buffer/plot device masquerading as a character.

            • I thought we would see some talk between Elena and Bonnie or them working together but nothing happened

Are Bonnie and Elena even bffs anymore? It seems like they avoid talking to each other as much as possible. They were in the same room/cave and I don’t remember them saying much to each other.

        • Do you think that Caroline and Matt are involved in the plan? Or are they only bystanders …

I wish they would be involved. But I guess they’re not. We’ll probably just get a reaction shot of their shocked faces once they see Klaus standing on the stage. I think they will be mainly involved with this Hybrid!Tyler sub-plot (if you can even call it a sub-plot at this point) which will be all about relationship drama.

Don´t know if Rebekah is really totally on their side and it would be cool, if she betrays them. Because I don´t want that plan to work.

Yeah, it would be great if she betrays them. I would love it if she had her own agenda and was neither Team Elena nor Team Klaus. But that’s too complicated for this show.

Like somebody else speculated in the comments, there’s also a good chance that “Homecoming” might turn out to be her swansong. Because the writers may want a shocking death for the mid-season finale and obviously neither Klaus nor Mikael are going to die.

Plus, Elena’s statement that Rebekah “is just a girl who loves blindly and recklessly” is as good as her absolving her of her sins. And you know what happens to guest stars on this show after they’ve confessed their sins to Elena/Elena has absolved them of their sins. I’d say thing aren’t looking to good for her right now.

          • Plus, Elena’s statement that Rebekah “is just a girl who loves blindly and recklessly” is as good as her absolving her of her sins. So true. Just when she was starting to “be better” or “see things differently.” She is dead meat. But I’ll also be sure to pay attention to any students who suddenly have a lot of lines, because that’ll mean they’re set to die.

          • Didn’t KW tweet about Paul and Claire killing some scenes though? For whatever reason I thought those scenes would be post “Homecoming” …unless Stefan’s killing Rebekah…which still doesn’t make much sense, but yeah Rebekah is as good as dead. I just don’t think it’s going to be in Homecoming. At least I hope not. Remember when Rose’s life was te big cliffhanger and most of fandom was like “BUT WE CARE WHY?”

            I’m confusing myself.

            • Oh yeah, I forgot about that tweet. Rebekah’s on the phone, telling someone to be careful. Could it be Stefan? I will roll my eyes so hard if she’s talking about Elena.

Maybe PW and Claire were shooting a death scene? Lawd, I hope Rebekah doesn’t die to protect Stefan.

Have they shot shot any episode past ep 9?

              • I hope she’s talking to Stefan. I hope she’s orchestrated some plan outside of Damon and Elena and Stefan’s her henchman or something. Don’t care what it is as long as it’s her plan.

Lawd, I hope Rebekah doesn’t die to protect Stefan.

They haven’t even set this up. They have actually avoided setting up a scenario where this could happen and offer material worth “killing” for either actor to work with. So I hope one of them saves the other and they have a heart to heart about killing people or not dying or something. “My daddy killed me too!”

Not sure. I imagine they’re shooting those episodes though.

                • Okay thanks. I saw some bts scenes that I think were from episode 10. Ian and Nina were standing outside of the witch house, and there was a shot of Damon inside the house. Hopefully it’s from ep 10 because I can’t figure out why they would go there in this episode.

    • I´m also very excited for the Klaus/Stefan scenes … but I´m not so dreading the Stefan pokerface, which probably has to be used again 😉

What if Klaus’s latest plan really is to be Homecoming King?

I think that his masterplan for sure … it comes before taking over world domination.

I wish there were Bonnie stills. Good to know that Caroline is going to be around. I still wish that Matt hated Elena.

You and me both. I seriously double-checked every promo for a glimpse of her. But nothing.
But Carolines focus seems to be on Tyler.

On the Matt/Elena front … I wish that too, but did you read that she was his Plan B to come to the ball?
I know most of you don´t like the idea of Matt and Bonnie but I seriously think that Bonnie was his first choice but for a reason she didn´t want to go with him (or she couldn´t?).
I would have really liked if they would have gone together as friends.

And another question, why takes this (the Homecoming) place at the Lockwood mansion … shouldn´t that be in the gym or somewhere at school?

      • Paul Wesley also stars is this the first time this has happened, have Nina and Ian ever had that.

I’ve seen people say that Elena wasn’t Matt’s first choice but I think it was Caroline not Bonnie. Just from that scene where he says “things change” I think it’s about the plans they had as a couple. Yes I do think Caroline had her and Matt’s senior year planned out already last year.

      • but did you read that she was his Plan B to come to the ball?

Matt was Elena’s plan b or Elena was Matt’s? Where was this said?

It’s at the Lockwood mansion? I thought it was outside. Either way, I was wondering why it wasn’t taking place at school or in a hotel.

        • Paul Wesley also stars is this the first time this has happened, have Nina and Ian ever had that.

I don´t think that happened to Ian and Nina ever, But I never saw the descriptions for season one.

I think it was Caroline not Bonnie. Just from that scene where he says “things change” I think it’s about the plans they had as a couple. Yes I do think Caroline had her and Matt’s senior year planned out already last year.

I would think that Caroline is such a person who plans everything out months ago but it would look pretty weird if Matt ask Caroline first because they didn´t have any romantical interaction this season. The only person he talked to longer than 30 seconds are Bonnie and Jeremy. And I thought Jeremy isn´t in this episode so Bonnie would be my choice.

Matt was Elena’s plan b or Elena was Matt’s? Where was this said?

Elena is Matt´s Plan B you can read it here: http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/11/the-vampire-diaries-homecoming-for-mystic-falls-high-and-klaus.html

I hope it is okay to post the link because it is only about this episode (Alta, sorry for the last times I posted spoiler links, after your last podcast I will contact you the next time, I have found something)

There you can also find that it all plays out in the Lockwood mansion it´s the place to be

          • Yeah, it’s okay since it has to do with the episode.

I hope if Matt asks Bonnie, it’s to try and make her feel better, and she turns him down. And since Bonnie is just coming down from a heartbreak, what reason would she have for wanting to go to homecoming? Trying to move on? I was thinking she might find her way to the dance due to the shenanigans. You know, if this was the type of show who had each of their characters doing something, and then their stories eventually intersected for the big blowout/take down. But no, they’re always doing the same exact thing, always on the same page.

Klaus is going to roll into town with more Hybrids? Considering the amount of screen-time we spent on his pursuit of being able to make Hybrids, I think it’s kind of weird we only saw him make Tyler. They show us him trying to achieve the goal, and they have him achieve it offscreen. Like, what does he think, how does he feel now that he’s done it?

            • Ok.

              That would be wonderful.
But now I really fear, that her only scene will be, Matt showing up at her porch (if she gets a home) – no strike that at school – and asking her for the dance and she says no.
And that will be the last scene of her in the episode. I would be so pissed I don´t even know.
Yeh it´s an awful show … a friend of mine is a fan of the Band that is performing this episode, so I feed her with informations about it … and all the time I feel ashamed, that she now knows. that I watch such a bad show.

Klaus is going to roll into town with more Hybrids?

I think so in one shot in the promo there is a black girl behind Elena and Mikael probably after Klaus discovers their plan and it looks like she is holding down Elena.
And you´re right about that … we saw his feelings as he failed it and now we nothing about the making of his new family. Does he come back because he needs more blood for Elena … and what happens with the hybrids if Klaus really dies?

              • and all the time I feel ashamed, that she now knows. that I watch such a bad show.

                Lol.

The only thing that should happen is that they shouldn’t feel the need to please Klaus anymore. They should still be Hybrids.

  2. So Mikael’s big plan to take Klaus down…is to let Elena do it? The show is trying so hard with this Elena crap, but of course they’re going about it the wrong way. They are making Bonnie sit down, downplaying her, in order to showcase Elena’s “agency.” Wtf ever.

    • And the thing is, it don’t make no sense because Klaus with his “hybrid reflexes” wouldn’t let her get within five feet of him without breaking her neck. But those reflexes have failed in the past so who knows. It’s obvious that they need a witch to weaken Klaus again, enough for Elena to get close and stick a candle in his cake – I mean stab him. I just don’t understand why they feel the need to use the character in this way and make her into pseudo-Buffy when for all intents and purposes she is a human and has no powers. The best she can do, like Alaric and Jeremy, is surprise someone. But. Again. Klaus is a supposedly invincible hybrid – why is he forever “surprised”?

Like this episode cannot be this season’s “Masquerade”. These faux-Scoobies can’t band together to fight Klaus because he’s been characterized as being too powerful.

So I don’t even know. It’s all nonsensical.

      • I didn’t even consider that this episode will try to be this season’s Masquerade, but you’re most likely right. It’s even taking place in the Lockwood mansion, and all of the characters will be there.

They’re not even going to have a backup in case this plan fails. And did Elena say she might let her humanity get in the way? Of killing Klaus? Why? Because of her newfound friendship with Rebekah?

    • I didn’t even click through the whole thing. Thanks for bringing it over though! I think those are grenades/vervain bombs. I suppose they got them from Alaric. Will they ever show us Alaric actually construct these things? Where does he get the material?

Elena does look bored. Still bitter they’re doing this with Elena at Bonnie’s expense. Remember when Bonnie having the power of 100 witches in order to kill Klaus was too big of a risk according to Elena and, most importantly, the show? But now Elena’s supposed to get within touching distance of Klaus in order to put a steak through his heart (while hoping she doesn’t actually miss the heart). It’s so freaking irritating. Will they let Bonnie opine on this? I mean I know they won’t let her bring up the hypocrisy, but….ugh.

      • Elena does look bored. Still bitter they’re doing this with Elena at Bonnie’s expense.

A lot of the stuff happening this season are what me and the girl I used to watch the show with wanted last season. Except it is being reflected back at me in this grotesque fun house mirror kind of way. I can’t. I wanted Elena’s attempts to protect others to be taken seriously by the show. I wanted Bonnie to be treated like a person and not just a magic machine by the characters and show. I wanted the show to explain how the Salvatores’ philosophy on violence evolved and I guess they are doing that with Stefan. I wanted the Council to be brought up more. I wanted Damon/Katherine. I wanted a storyline for Jeremy that dealt with his dead gfs and why he keeps going from one epic love to another. I wanted a storyline for Matt that dealt with Vicki’s death (ok, that wasn’t too bad). I wanted a storyline for Bonnie that dealt with Grams’ death (it was ok but *one* ep? Really) I wanted to know more of what is going on in Elena’s head – I wanted to know what she thinks and feels about what is going on. I thought the Caroline/Matt/Liz storyline ended too fast and wanted more of Caroline trying to gain acceptance or trying to deal with being a vampire – enter Bill. I wanted I wanted I wanted. God! Why is everything so clunky and half-assed? I feel like I am being trolled

      • Remember when Bonnie having the power of 100 witches in order to kill Klaus was too big of a risk according to Elena and, most importantly, the show? But now Elena’s supposed to get within touching distance of Klaus in order to put a steak through his heart (while hoping she doesn’t actually miss the heart). It’s so freaking irritating. Will they let Bonnie opine on this? I mean I know they won’t let her bring up the hypocrisy, but….ugh.

All of this is ridiculous. Remember how desperate Damon was to keep her alive late last season? I guess he learned his lesson about letting her make her own decisions. Whatever.

  3. I hope Mikael saying a vamp can’t dagger an Original without dying is another one of those dubious lines. They’ll only die if the dagger is dipped in white ash. Also, why does he think the dagger will work? Klaus isn’t just an Original anymore. They seem to be totally ignoring his werewolf side.

Wtf will Bonnie be doing while everything “falls to Elena?” I love how Mikael would rather work with a human than a witch. Idiot. I’m so annoyed and ready for the hiatus. I’m tired of Elena’s sudden importance/capabilities that are at Bonnie’s expense.

    • You´re welcome for the promo!

At first I thought we would see a stake out of the white oak tree … but this is really a dagger again, right?.
Why should it work or is this time not made out of silver?

Don´t know what she is doing but it looks like Stefan is not included in the “real” plan like Damon said, perhaps they planned something with Bonnie or she is sent to wake up Elijah (don´t know why, but I would love it). And it seems like Damon didn´t know that Mikael feeds off vampires. Good luck with that.
But at least now we know, why Damon had to show Elena how to find the heart of a vampire. She needs it for Klaus. Everything is connected.
But where is Damon during all this scheme with Mikael and Elena … is this a hybrid girl behind them?

I´m ready for the hiatus too.

      • why Damon had to show Elena how to find the heart of a vampire. She needs it for Klaus.

I’m sorry. I’m still confused. Does the heart move once someone has been turned into a vampire? Is that what happens?

        • Apparently after Damon´s description, perhaps a protection system or a modification during the evolution to escape the murderous vampire hunters..

I think it was only used to provide us a “sexy” training session, but who knows?

            • Right that´s how it will play out.
For sure Mikael will stand behind Klaus and because of her superpower, which she gained because of her training sessions in the morning with Alaric and the kick-ass-wonder-fighting with Damon she will stake the dagger through Klaus and Mikaels heart at the same time … because that is the perfect-master-suppa-duppa-diabolical plan of the badass trio Alaric/Elena/Damon.
They figured it out all by themselves. No help of a witch needed.

      • Everything is connected.

        Rme.

Yeah, I’m sure she’s a hybrid. And she has the same hairstyle as Rose for some reason. Anyway, she seems to be a woman of color so she’ll probably die.

I’d love for Bonnie to wake Elijah up to. And then she can have scenes with him. But he’ll probably just gravitate towards Elena.

        • Yeah, I’m sure she’s a hybrid. And she has the same hairstyle as Rose for some reason. Anyway, she seems to be a woman of color so she’ll probably die.

You´re right … I didn´t even think about the hairstyle.
She looks pretty insecure about the situation or perhaps she knows that her death is near.
But I think the actress is a friend of JoMo and he tweeted about that the people should follow her … don´t know if I remember right, but it looks like we will see her again (if only for one episode).

I’d love for Bonnie to wake Elijah up to. And then she can have scenes with him.

I spoke about that with somebody and said that I would like for them to go to the party enjoying themselves and let the badass trio work their diabolical plan.
Even I don´t like the band, perhaps they will play some good songs for them to dance (Elijah dancing what a thought!).

      • At first I thought we would see a stake out of the white oak tree … but this is really a dagger again, right?.
Why should it work or is this time not made out of silver?

WTF you guys. What is this? This is why I have been avoiding the previews/spoilers until now. I shouldn’t have watched. They are seriously going to use a dagger. The same kind of dagger that Elijah told us wouldn’t work on Klaus because of the silver? The same kind of dagger that didn’t hurt Klaus when he used it on Elijah? Is this a *new* kind of magical dagger? Maybe this is a fake out. Maybe Mikael does have a stake made from that tree in the Original village. Maybe maybe maybe. I can’t.

        • It looks definetly like the dagger they used on Elijah … where do they all come from? Is there a tiny little company on the north pole which produces them for Santa Klaus and Mikael bribed an elf to hand one over for free?

Maybe Alta is right and it only weakens him and Mikael has to finish him off … but he spoke about staking him last episode. And he said it´s the only way to kill an original. I´m confused.

What is Elena babbling about “humanity” I can´t understand Nina.

          • She’s wondering who’s humanity is going to get in the way of the plan working. And she says it’s probably hers. Because she can’t bring herself to murder or some crap.

Didn’t they say there were only seven daggers in season 2?

            • But she had no problem with killing Elijah and this guy didn´t even kill her aunt.

Seven daggers? I thought it was only one. But I have to confess, that I don´t know what Uncle John said as he brought the dagger.

    • Also, why does he think the dagger will work? Klaus isn’t just an Original anymore. They seem to be totally ignoring his werewolf side.

Would the dagger have ever worked on Klaus? I ask because even when Elena took the dagger out of Elijah, no one suggested running him down and sticking it in his heart.

I love how Mikael would rather work with a human than a witch. Idiot.

He is a vampire hunter who didn’t kill Stefan in the twenties, for whatever reason, and apparently waited until after the club he decided to shoot up, in order to get to his son, cleared out before searching for his children. His mistakes are vast.

And Katherine was able to stumble onto Klaus and Elijah without even trying, but Mikael was apparently oblivious. Fool.

One of my issues with the constant Elena is Buffy comparisions the show tries to do is ELENA CAN’T BE BUFFY. She just can’t be. And that wouldn’t be a problem if the writers were smart and gave her strengths in other avenues. They don’t though so this two episode training session is a weak way to say she’s more capable of taking out Klaus than anyone else in that room, let alone Bonnie. (Even Matt can shoot a gun).

      • Would the dagger have ever worked on Klaus? I ask because even when Elena took the dagger out of Elijah, no one suggested running him down and sticking it in his heart.

Right? It seemed in 2.21 that Elijah was going to do the ‘ole rip the heart out trick. Which reminds me of something I wanted to say: my God, but I think Mikael is still going to be the one to try and kill Klaus. Otherwise it makes no sense that he would say they can lure Klaus and he will kill him. I think Elena’s just supposed to incapacitate him with the damn dagger? Now where the heck have I seen something like that before? They’re going to tell me that it’s going to take less to incapacitate Klaus now? Before we needed the powers of 100 witches who were violently murdered. Now we just need Elena wielding a dagger and it’ll be the same thing?

and apparently waited until after the club he decided to shoot up, in order to get to his son, cleared out before searching for his children.

Maybe this is who Klaus gets his hearing problems from.

        • I thought it wouldn´t have worked on Elijah because of silver dagger and his werwolf side would protect him.

I thought he will feed on him until he is unconsious and then Elena would come with the dagger – which I thought would be the white oak tree stake and finish him off.

my God, but I think Mikael is still going to be the one to try and kill Klaus. Otherwise it makes no sense that he would say they can lure Klaus and he will kill him. I think Elena’s just supposed to incapacitate him with the damn dagger? Now where the heck have I seen something like that before? Now we just need Elena wielding a dagger and it’ll be the same thing?

The actual term you are looking for is O-M-G … I never thought about that, but that´s possible.
Please don´t let this happen, please.

  4. If they have to use a human to kill Klaus why not Matt or Liz or Carol? If I was Klaus I would full on expect an assualt from Elena. Especially if she was randomly trying to get close to me. Matt isn’t a threat to him and Liz and Carol have no idea who he is, as far as he (and we) knows.

    • Because this is Elena’s journey! She must go into the belly of the beast and come out a changed person!!! Or something to that effect. What is Elena going to do when Stefan does come back?

      • What is Elena going to do when Stefan does come back?

Tell him that everything is okay and he isn’t responsible for the things he’s done. I’m sorta hoping Stefan just doesn’t come back. Because how he’ll be able to come back anything less than more crazy than he was before is beyond me.

Maybe she’ll wash the blood out of his hair or something.

          • Yes, because we know Stefan will be the hardest on himself.

He’ll single tear this beast for about three episodes and then be back to normal. I bet he cries over wasting his last chance to talk to Lexi. I bet he weeps.

            • Elena will reassure him that Lexi knows he didn’t mean any of the things he said. We’ll get some shots of him staring out of the colorful Salvatore windows, and Damon will make a comment about how he’s back to being perfect/the good brother and then he’ll stare longingly as Elena hugs Stefan. But then she’ll look over Stefan’s shoulder in order to indicate that DE still have a connection! She does remember the things she felt while Stefan was absent!

              • We’ve constructed the ToD arc for the back half of the season. The writers can focus on other things now like the Forbes secret unicorn farm under the high-school. It’s time Caroline learned a few things about her family.

It’s sad how many times we’ve seen a variation on the scenes you described above.

                  • So I guess the Forwood Romeo et Juliet thing is being saved for the second half?

Probably. Though I still don’t understand where the “warring” families business is going to come in since their mothers are all about working with each other to protect them.

                  • I think this ship has sailed.
I don´t believe that they would speak about something that will play out in the second half of the season this early in the summer.
Didn´t start that crap about Romeo/Julia during ComicCon?

Perhaps Klaus the father of the hybrid clan will forbid Tyler to see Caroline because of his rivalry with Damon the “father” of Caroline and at the same time Damon will hold back Caroline … but love will conquer them all and they will be together again. And have hot sex on the Lockwood couch.

The sl has to play out in this episode … don´t think this can wait until next year.

                    • You’re most likely right. Another empty promise from the producers, though I’m not disappointed to have been spared this one. Lol, that episode of Carol telling Tyler she didn’t want him to see Caroline anymore was probably the writers’ delivering that promise to us. And then Tyler literally scared his mother straight.

  5. Thanks for the clip, Kathrin. So pretty much the only part that made me perk up was the Bonnie mention. Because my life is so sad. So she’s just on an advisory basis now?

  6. Why do I think his(Damon) back up plan involves Bonnie, just like in the “The Last Dance”. Why does it take Bonnie to mention that Rebeka might betray them as Klaus is her brother, what happened with Elijah was not that long ago Elena.

      • Lol. I do love that Bonnie seems to be in possession of the one Mystic Falls brain in this ep though.

Oh, and did you catch the subtle foreshadowing? The homecoming queen just might be a danger to Elena. Did you catch that? Did you get it, Alta? Real foreshadowing or a fake out? I guess we will have to tune in to find out.

        • Oh, and did you catch the subtle foreshadowing? The homecoming queen just might be a danger to Elena. Did you catch that? Did you get it, Alta?

Ugh. And why would anyone vote Rebekah for homecoming? She just got to the school? Now there was that one Black girl in the preview with a crown on her head (it looked too small to be a queenly crown, but I don’t think this show would waste its time with runner-ups), so maybe she’s been compelled to hurt Elena?

          • Now there was that one Black girl in the preview with a crown on her head (it looked too small to be a queenly crown, but I don’t think this show would waste its time with runner-ups), so maybe she’s been compelled to hurt Elena?

Probably. It is so weird that she was featured so prominently in the Canadian promo. I guess she is significant in some way.

            • Probably. It is so weird that she was featured so prominently in the Canadian promo. I guess she is significant in some way.

Most likely she will get killed off by Klaus or one of his hybrid minions after the coronation.
Do you think we will see another bloodbath (and in the end nobody will care, again)?

      • Damon even brings it up. But I guess Elena’s just an idiot? Smh.

But did you notice the irony of *Damon* making fun of Elena for thinking that vampires are reliable? Lol. The next second he tells her to trust him with a backup plan

        • Lmao. Not to mention he trusted Katherine and then proceeded to have no idea what happened to her or if she’d woken Mikael up…until Mikael walked up to him. Wonder if he’ll ask what happened to Katherine.

          • He followed Katherine blindly *after* he had an epic hallucination 2-3 months ago which led him to the realization that choosing Katherine is wrong

            • Holy Shit! These writers are really awful. It would be funny if they were trolling us but they aren’t smart enough to troll this hard.

              • I think it is more of their “clever” meta. Everyone got on Elena for trusting Elijah last season so the show has to point out how foolish she is so we can all feel smug or something?? idek.

                  • It occurred to me that this is probably not meta. Damon is that kind of oblivious asshole. He doesn’t really examine himself unless he is forced to do so. He is incapable of connecting the dots. He just knows that he was right and Elena was wrong about Elijah. This situation with Rebekah seems similar so why not rub it in, right?

      • Damon even brings it up. But I guess Elena’s just an idiot? Smh.

Damon sounds so annoyed. As if he’s only one step awayfrom calling her an idiot again.

Ugh, these two and their scenes. Either it’s them having a ‘moment’ or it’s Damon being condescending towards her.

          • Yeah, that chart is pretty accurate.

About the soft indie songs playing in the background. They’ve never been my cup of tea but up until this season I’ve been mostly indifferent to them. But I feel that now almost every single episode ends with a sad indie song playing over a Delena scene and/or a closing montage. And it’s too much for me now (the music in combination with the closing montages). I wish the show would change things up a bit in that regard (ehh, not only in that regard tbh).

            • They’ve never been my cup of tea but up until this season I’ve been mostly indifferent to them.

Me too. All I have to think about during these scenes is that all these little fangirls will probably dl these songs the next day to flail about them and how they reflect their favourite pairing.

    • Why do I think his(Damon) back up plan involves Bonnie, just like in the “The Last Dance”.

I think so too, at least I hope so because I want an active role for her in this plan but why didn´t Elena come up with some secret plan?

Do you think we will see the conversation between Bonnie and Elena that leads to Elena´s statement?

  7. I have a quick question about these vervain/wolfsbane grenades- I know they are called grenades and blabla and naturally they have to explode. But why do they have to explode (because they can explode according to Damon who is concerned about Elena) – it would be not so dangerous for the builder of these things if it weren´t so. Because is it necesssary for them to explode? It´s the vervain or the wolfsbane that causes the damage not the explosion, Elena only has to throw it hard enogh to break at the body of the hybrid/vampire/werewolf … and didn´t they use something like that in “The Hybrid” … can´t remember if it exploded on Ray´s face.
There would have been a louder noise, and Damon would have been hurt too.

    • It´s the vervain or the wolfsbane that causes the damage not the explosion, Elena only has to throw it hard enogh to break at the body of the hybrid/vampire/werewolf

That’s what I though too. No idea what Damon’s talking about.

Btw, isn’t it funny? After all these Buffy/Xena references and pseudo training scenes, Elena can’t be trusted with a simple vervain grenade.

      • I watched that part of “The Hybrid” again and it really exploded … but why?
That isn´t necessary for real. What is Alaric thinking about building grenades and showing it Elena? OMG this show.
What a wonderful guardian. I can´t believe this.

        • Oh, I just remembered there was also this part during Elena’s first ‘training session’ when Alaric suddenly tossed her a vervain grenade and said: “You only have 5 seconds until it explodes.” And Elena threw it at the dummy but wasn’t quick enough and it exploded in the air.

I’ve no idea how these grenades are supposed to work and I’m pretty sure the writers don’t know either. Also, isn’t Alaric supposed to be a newbie vampire hunter? Logan Fell was his first kill, right? So it doesn’t make any sense to me that he is able to build such weapons in the first place. But what do I know.

Righ. I must have slept through that scene because I had to get up at 5am in the morning and there was no Alaric creeping over me and telling me that I´m the strongest person he knows because I got out of bed so early.

Also, isn’t Alaric supposed to be a newbie vampire hunter? Logan Fell was his first kill, right? So it doesn’t make any sense to me that he is able to build such weapons in the first place. But what do I know.

Apparently he is a fast learner. Did he kill another vampire or was this his only kill?
I think you can find a description on the internet … use bing that´s what the writers and Jeremy uses.

            • Do you watch the episodes live? I can’t be bothered. For me: sleep >>>>>>>>>>> every TV show 😉

Hmm, he also killed Henry (the tomb vampire Alaric and Damon met when they teamed up in late S1). I think his only ‘kill’ after that was stabbing Elijah in “The Dinner Party”.
It’s not helping that he isn’t in most of the episodes where shit really hits the fan (i.e. The Reckoning). Oh, that reminds me… will he be in this week’s ep?

              • I don’t think so. You think he would be since he was working on the caves and helped decipher what was already apparent to most of the audience, but that would make too much sense.

              • Do you watch the episodes live? I can’t be bothered. For me: sleep >>>>>>>>>>> every TV show

Sometimes … last semester I didn´t have anything on friday so I did, when I knew it was something that I could look forward too.
I think I phrased it wrong in my comment above this semester the whole week I have to get up on 5am (that is why tired) except for Friday so I use this one night to stay up long.
Pretty messed up if your only late nighttime-activity in the week is watching TVD.
Look at your life look at your choices.

Oh, that reminds me… will he be in this week’s ep?

                I don´t think so.

            • I must have slept through that scene because I had to get up at 5am in the morning and there was no Alaric creeping over me and telling me that I´m the strongest person he knows because I got out of bed so early.

              HA!!!!!!

He killed Logan fell and later killed Henry after telling Damon no one would die tonight.

    • Because is it necesssary for them to explode?

Nope, but this show doesn’t have much in terms of show-y special effects. You wouldn’t think so since they have a witch, but…it’s probably the same reason they sometimes shake the camera when two vampires are fighting.

      • I only remember that fight between Ray and Damon … and I had to hold in with my laughter because of my neighbour sleeping the room next to mine with walls thin as newspapers.

Did they use this more often?

          • I literally laughed at that. All they did was hold onto each other’s shoulders but the camera shook like it was the most dramatic thing imaginable. What was that? Oh well, I guess if they don’t have the money, they don’t have the money.

            • Lol. All they had to do was actually have them punch each other and really fight and speed it up or slow it down to show that they’re moving fast. They did that when Damon was fighting the vamps on Let The Right One In. Two vamps fighting doesn’t have to be boring. But making it look like the house is shaking is just ridiculous.

              • A lot of the fights in season 2 and all of the fights in season 3 were lame. I don’t know what happened. I don’t remember this level of lameness in season one – certainly not to the level of the Damon/Ray fight or the Damon/Maddox non-fight.

    • Jeez! What is wrong with Tyler? Has he always been such a psycho? I thought so in season one but I thought they were telling me something different in season 2. Btw, they should just come out and say they are erasing season 2 from the show’s history “Mistakes were made. The network was going through some changes/. Let’s forget about it, ok?”

      • *The network was going through some changes/(insert diff excuse here).

Lol. Forgot that this website can’t do triangle brackets or wtvr they are called

      • Seriously Tyler is straight up crazy like the Salvatores crazy. “It’s a wake” and he is so calm about it does he know whose wake it is
        .
Yeah season 2 never happened for a couple of characters.

So I am so happy Bonnie is there and with Caroline. I don’t think they are going to really show the homecoming dance just the after party.

      • I stopped watching right when he came up to Stefan because I didn’t want to be spoiled that much. But you know the drill. It’s because he’s sired!!!!!!!!!111

  8. Maybe I’m wrong, but Klaus became a hybrid in effort to avoid death, right? That’s part of why the witches (blah blah blah “Ordinary People” whatever, they’ve created a huge retcon in their own plot to avoid dealing with the fact that creating an unkillable enemy is actually really stupid and since no one questioned the validity of Elijah’s or Klaus’s claims about how becoming a Hybrid would make Klaus invulnerable, they basically just ignored the fact that Klaus would have no reason to become one, if that wasn’t the case) put the curse on him, in the first place. Everything must have an end and Klaus was trying to bypass, the white ash tree, his end entirely.

Now we have the dagger/stake from that tree and that is going to be used to try to kill him. Okay. But it’s only going to kill him because it is the white ash stake/dagger, right? Or else they could just sprinkle some wood with the ash or something. What I’m wondering and maybe I’ve missed something (highly likely) is what are they going to do about Tyler? He’s a Hybrid, but the point of becoming a Hybrid is to bypass the weaknesses of vampires and werewolves. The white ash stake would probably work on a regular vampire, but should it work on Tyler?

I’m looking at this and forgetting what I was trying to ask.

    • Okay, I hope my post will make sense. When it comes to this Hybrid/silver dagger/white oak tree business, I feel like I don’t understand anything.

So, re: the question if the white oak tree stake should work on Tyler – I think it should. Klaus and Tyler are both hybrids, but I feel like Klaus should be the more powerful one, since he is both a werewolf and an Original vampire, whereas Tyler is just a werewolf and a regular vampire. So I figure that whatever is harmful for Klaus should also be harmful for Tyler?

But what I honestly don’t get is why a white oak tree stake can kill Klaus/a hybrid in the first place. I guess, I’m missing something here. I mean, ok, it is harmful for the (Original) vampire side of a hybrid. But what about their werewolf side? Can a stake to the heart kill a werewolf? Why would a werewolf heal from being stabbed to the heart with a silver dagger but not a wooden stake?

      • I hope I didn’t totally miss the point of your question in my post. (I feel like I did.) This white oak tree/dagger stuff makes my brain melt.

        • You got the main point. I guess I was just trying to figure out, if Klaus can’t be allowed to exist, why is Tyler going to be walking around and doing stuff?

But what I honestly don’t get is why a white oak tree stake can kill Klaus/a hybrid in the first place.

I know. And what’s the point of being a Hybrid if you can still die? We’ve gotten to see no benefits to the change. Mason pulled the dagger right out, like it was nothing, so I’m wondering how the same outcome wouldn’t be available to a hybrid.

          • if Klaus can’t be allowed to exist, why is Tyler going to be walking around and doing stuff?

That’s back when the witches had agency. Those witches (Esther can go sit) are lucky KW and JP were not writing them.

      • Can a stake to the heart kill a werewolf? Why would a werewolf heal from being stabbed to the heart with a silver dagger but not a wooden stake?

Those things should not work on a werewolf. Logically, they should dip it in wolfsbane for it to be effective. Ooo fic idea!!!

    • Maybe I’m wrong, but Klaus became a hybrid in effort to avoid death, right?

Depends on who you ask. Greta said he wanted to create a new world order, Elijah said he wanted to create a new race, and Rebekah and Klaus himself said he just doesn’t want to be alone. No one’s ever said he didn’t want to die, and the witches (originally before they retconned it) cursed him because he could not be allowed to exist, that much concentration of power could not be allowed to exist.

Tyler should be way easier to kill than Klaus. What’s killing me is that I feel like they’re trying to say that Tyler is as hard to kill as Klaus solely because they’ve got the Hybrid thing in common, and that couldn’t be more wrong.

Yeah, the thing will only kill him because of the white ash/it’s made from the white oak tree. But Klaus is no longer just an Original so it should not work. I’d love it if they stabbed him and then Klaus just laughed his ass off while he healed, because these people are too stupid.

      • Greta’s explanation still makes the most sense, as it suggests all three.

What’s killing me is that I feel like they’re trying to say that Tyler is as hard to kill as Klaus solely because they’ve got the Hybrid thing in common, and that couldn’t be more wrong.

Yeah. It’s as if they’ve forgotten that what makes Klaus hard to kill is the fact that he is an Original + a Hybrid, but that Original part is far more important than the Hybrid part. At least it used to be. I am hoping for a scene where Tyler says something or does something stupid and Stefan, Damon, or Caroline is just like “Take your three weeks of being Hybrid and shut the hell up!” Caroline will never be allowed a moment like that, but I just want someone to remind him that he is still small potatoes on the power scale. In my head, he’d threaten Stefan or Damon or, in the perfect world Caroline, with a wolf bite and they’d remind him that they had decades/months on him and could easily snap his neck and drink his blood to be cured.

I’d love it if they stabbed him and then Klaus just laughed his ass off while he healed, because these people are too stupid.

That would actually be brilliant, especially for Klaus, since he rarely gets moments of triumph.

        • I’ve been imagining him telling Bonnie she can’t tell him what to do, so she gives him an aneurysm, telling him he’s still a young werewolf and an even younger vampire. Tyler should have perks for being a Hybrid, but it should not be the same as the ones Klaus have. But for them to make that distinction, they would have to look at this from Tyler’s point of view and basically make it about his character, and they don’t care to do that.

That would actually be brilliant, especially for Klaus, since he rarely gets moments of triumph.

          So sad.

    • Does Julie Plec even know how to answer a question? Good lord. She considers the final Damon and Elena scene to be a Delena moment? Okay.

      • I mostly skipped through it … because I don´t like her most of the time.

Yep she did and according to one of her tweets it was her favourite scene.

      • She basically considers it a Delena moment because they were in the same scene, alone, and talking to each other very closely. That’s apparently all it takes. The topic of discussion doesn’t matter.

        I saw that tweet too.

        • She basically considers it a Delena moment because they were in the same scene, alone, and talking to each other very closely. That’s apparently all it takes. The topic of discussion doesn’t matter.

This is incredibly sad. I know there are fans who consider it an OT3 moment and I can’t help but roll my eyes at that because in the few scenes where Jeremy and Caroline helped Bonnie with spells and the few Caroline/Matt/Tyler popular kids trio stuff, hell in the scene where Tyler gave Bonnie and Caroline drinks, there was more OT3 potential than the weird dynamic that is really beneficial to no one in the relationship that exists between Damon, Elena, and Stefan. How can an OT3 ot3 if the third party is always presented as an interloper/extra/ghost in the relationship?

            • Yup. And while Damon/Elena/Stefan are destructive, they don’t function very well in spite of it or within it. They are defining their relationship(s) in a way that always places one of them outside of it, as a third wheel who can easily be done away with. Like Stefan and Elena can function without Damon’s presence, but the other two relationships within the ToD, don’t really have that sustainability. Who is actually interested in watching Stefan and Damon yucking it up 24/7? Maybe their fans don’t want them to fight, but who is actually invested in watching them get over their drama and then be cool with each other forever and ever? Damon and Elena doesn’t really have a place for Elena without Stefan hovering in the background as the brother she loved first.

    • Thanks for bringing this over, Kathrin. I skimmed it and read the Jeremy part.

So basically Bonnie won’t be doing anything tonight. Know that I will be side-eyeing everything Elena does in her attempt to keep Bonnie out of it, protect her, or whatever the excuse will be tonight.

      • You´re welcome! That was the part that interested me the most too.

That´s what I thought too … do Bonnie and Caroline even know that they want to lure Klaus back into town. Bonnie would be more aware than only think about Homecoming if she knew that Klaus and his hybrid army is rolling into town.
I don´t understand this sl, why isn´t Bonnie involved. What kind of plan is this and I think Damon´s backup-plan is really something with Mikael because I re-read the description and it most likely sounds like it. And Alaric isn´t there. With who would he plan otherwise? Or is it something he can do on his own.

Didn´t like JP pointing out about last seasons plan to kill Klaus. I got the feeling she was downplaying Bonnie´s strength. She had the right plan it would have worked (and btw her spell to resurrect Elena worked, JP) but Elena came in with Elijah.
And now they are excluding Bonnie out of this plan?
        I can´t even.

        • What did she say about last season’s plan to kill Klaus?

Bonnie isn’t involved because the producers want to focus on Bonnie the human. That’s what all of this is about. It’s freaking ridiculous. And is completely in line with the binary view they seem to have of every last one of their characters.

  9. Our characters have to decide if she’s ultimately trustworthy, or is the same thing gonna happen that happened with Elijah,” Plec says. “Last season, our characters tried to kill Klaus and thought they had a perfect plan. They thought they had a witch who was strong enough. They thought they had a spell that could save Elena’s life. They thought they had Elijah in their corner. Everything went horribly, horribly, horribly wrong. JP

Why can´t they go both ways human and magical … aren´t the capable of doing this? It´s such a disgrace for her character who was willing to die last season to kill Klaus and basically save the world from him and his new order.
They are a complete fail and nobody tells them that in the face.

I had a dream not long ago that I met the cast during one of my train rides and the train had to stop for a longer time and I told her everything that I wanted to tell her about her lazy writing and her not including Bonnie in anything … don´t know how the castmembers reacted (Kat wasn´t there – but what a surprise she is mostly not there when the cast promotes anything) but I know for sure that the last moment of my dream was me reading her tweet about it and it was something like “I got told by a german girl in a train”
Good to know that was the only dream I had of her … hopefully the last.

    • They did have a witch who was strong enough, Julie. But her strength wasn’t put to its full use because you wanted to show how caring Elena was. Ughh.

      Lol, I love your dream.
