Happy Halloween!!!

I’m sitting here sleepy, have no homework to do, and checking the site, so I thought I’d make a post in honor of Halloween.

No sarcasm, just straight honesty, what scene in TVD genuinely scared you/made you jump? If you don’t have an answer, then what scene came close?

Let the sarcasm fly:

What scene creeped you out the most?

What is the creepiest line ever uttered by a TVD character (whether they/the show meant it to sound creepy or not)?

What is the most uncomfortable scene ever aired on TVD?

Will TVD ever celebrate a holiday that is not Halloween?

What is your favorite twist/cliffhanger?

Who is scarier? Klaus or Rebekah?

Feel free to come up with more in the comments!!!

  1. In the second episode when Damon got into Vicki’s dreams while she was in the hospital and popped up behind her in the bathroom mirror, I screamed so loud and still do.

What scene creeped you out the most?

It didn’t creep me out so much as gave me an unexpected shock, but when Damon touched the woman’s body in the s3 premiere and her head fell off I started saying “oh shit” over and over again.

What is the creepiest line ever uttered by a TVD character (whether they/the show meant it to sound creepy or not)?

Stefan telling Amber about where he could bite her in order to make the cleanest kill.

What is the most uncomfortable scene ever aired on TVD?

Damon’s scenes with Caroline. Damon-over powering Elena in that one episode where he threatens to break her arm. Stefan compelling Vicki to forget that Damon attacked her.

Will TVD ever celebrate a holiday that is not Halloween?

What are you talking about Alta? They celebrate Founder’s Day and Illumination Night all the damn time. They’ll celebrate Christmas and/or New Years in order to inform us about some other comet/star thing that’s going to cause zombie’s to rise or something.

    What is your favorite twist/cliffhanger?

When they killed Caroline after killing Jeremy and then revealing that he was alive after all. Killing Vicki.

Who is scarier? Klaus or Rebekah?

A muppet baby is scarier than the two of them. I’d say Klaus when the show is invested in his blase anger. I think Joseph Morgan plays it well. Rebekah isn’t scarier to me, so much as potentially more capable.

    • Also, for creepy lines/scenes, when Caroline asked Damon if he was going to kill her and he said yes. I think that was one of the most perfect/off-putting/scary moments on the show.

      • The creepiest Damon/Caroline scene, for me, was when he was about to kill her in the Lockwood mansion lawn. He came up behind her in the dark and it was all so very intimate. He grabbed her hips at some point and whispered in her ear *shudder*

        • That was terrifying the first time. Because the intimacy of the moment was clearly false and then it nose-dived into his attempted murder.

I sometimes can’t deal with how much better this show was at creating those moments of genuine cognitive dissonance in a scene. Because that scene was everything it was supposed to be and it worked. They don’t have as many scary/horrible moments anymore.

    • In the second episode when Damon got into Vicki’s dreams while she was in the hospital and popped up behind her in the bathroom mirror, I screamed so loud and still do.

That was a really good scene.

when Damon touched the woman’s body in the s3 premiere and her head fell off I started saying “oh shit” over and over again.

I was prepared for that because people kept bringing it up after the trailer aired (I hadn’t noticed it).

What are you talking about Alta? They celebrate Founder’s Day and Illumination Night all the damn time.

      Lol!

A muppet baby is scarier than the two of them.

      Lmao!

  2. A scene that genuinely scared me is when Elena hit the vampire with her car and then the dude fixed himself, got up, and started walking to her car. My heart was beating so fast.

The scene that creeped me out the most is one I simultaneously found hot, and it’s when Vicky and Jeremy were making out against the buses and she bit him and licked the blood. I was waiting for her to attack him at any minute. Bonnie summoning Emily the first time was also pretty creepy.

The creepiest line is Stefan saying he’ll always protect Elena (the first time). I am not joking. It’s the first thing that comes to mind, and I’m okay with that.

Hands down the most uncomfortable scene ever aired on this show is when Klaus killed Elena. I couldn’t believe and I couldn’t believe what I was supposed to be feeling versus what I was actually feeling. It was the moment I realized the producers really don’t care about Elena.

Nope, I don’t think they ever will. Ugh. I’d love for them to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but lol these people are not happy and the only couple who would genuinely be into V-Day just got spectacularly dismantled. If Stefan were still sane (lol) he’d probably have to drag Elena into doing something fun, and they’d be smiling at each other in that way I’ve grown sick of and that is also just a tad bit pretentious. Tyler would cook Caroline dinner and they would inevitably have sex.

My favorite cliffhanger is Harper coming out of the tomb. Too bad it went absolutely nowhere. My favorite twist is Katherine killing Caroline. Did not see that coming.

Ugh. I think Klaus has more potential to be scary than Rebekah does. If only he’d strike out from Stefan’s shadow.

    • I always forget about Elena hitting that vampire with her car. That was pretty intense and I think it was a cliffhanger before a break? Can’t be sure.

The creepiest line is Stefan saying he’ll always protect Elena (the first time). I am not joking. It’s the first thing that comes to mind, and I’m okay with that.

Rewatching s1 and seeing that moment, I know what you mean.

If Stefan were still sane (lol) he’d probably have to drag Elena into doing something fun, and they’d be smiling at each other in that way I’ve grown sick of and that is also just a tad bit pretentious.

Can’t stop laughing. Stefan as sane. The two of them hanging out during Valentine’s Day. The fact that when they smile around each other I grow nauseous. All of this happening at once is crazy ridiculous. Comedy gold.

Ugh. I think Klaus has more potential to be scary than Rebekah does. If only he’d strike out from Stefan’s shadow. If only he’d strike out from Stefan’s shadow.

If only the writers would let him. He has the potential, an affection starved possessive megalomaniac who just so happens to be special in at least two ways, is a formidable villain. It’s not even like the writing needs to make him look worse than Stefan. It just doesn’t need to place Stefan on a pedestal in Klaus’s eyes, at least not the “I learned some of my favorite torture techniques from you” pedestal. I thought the writing for their combined arc would recognize, at some point, that Klaus is more threatening because he has plans and the means and motivation to implement them on a large scale. But let me not think about that anymore.

      • That was pretty intense and I think it was a cliffhanger before a break? Can’t be sure.

Yeah, it was the cliffhanger for a hiatus, I think.

        Lol.

I didn’t realize I wrote that twice. Lol. It sounds so regretful.

  3. I think one of the show’s better choices, in terms of building fear/anticipation was to have us hear Mason transform twice, especially since the first time we saw him transform was visual without the benefit of actually seeing him and then the second time was primarily auditory, before they had us watch Tyler’s transformation. It was very effective.

    • I didn’t pay much attention to the audio of Mason’s transformation. Now that I’m thinking about it, and this might be the way they’re writing Tyler this season that’s affecting me/my memory, I don’t think I got invested in or became anxious about Tyler’s upcoming transformation until the episode where he actually transformed. I just felt bad for him when he watched Mason’s video.

  4. No sarcasm, just straight honesty, what scene in TVD genuinely scared you/made you jump? If you don’t have an answer, then what scene came close?

Same as Olu. When Damon attacked Vicki in her dreams. The whole Damon/Vicki arc was pretty scary.

What scene creeped you out the most?

When Stefan locked Damon in the dungeon after the Caroline rapemance. The moment when he is talking to Damon through the bars. He coldly and calmly talked about turning his brother into a mummy. The way PW played that was chilling.

The way that Lexi was very calm and playful about torturing Stefan in the latest ep reminded me of that Stefan scene. Lexi told Elena to separate herself from her emotions. She said “Think of it like a regimen. Day in and Day out. Like running the treadmill. Like making coffee.” She equated stabbing her friend daily to making coffee. LOL

I guess, we now know where Stefan got it from.

What is the creepiest line ever uttered by a TVD character (whether they/the show meant it to sound creepy or not)?

Damon to Elena: I will always choose you.

Dude, she hasn’t chosen you. WTF?! Stalker for life.

What is the most uncomfortable scene ever aired on TVD?

The Damon/Andie scene where she ends up on the ground crying in her underwear and bleeding from her neck. I guess one of the lines Damon said to Andie could have been my choice for creepiest line too.

Damon to Andie: I am upset. You know what happens when I am upset.

As if his actions are outside of his control. Damon is legit crazy, you guys. I don’t mean like all vampires are crazy. I mean straight-up can’t figure out what reality is sometimes. This scene doesn’t affect me the same way on rewatch but when I first watched it, I got sick to my stomach. I am not exaggerating. I got physically ill.

Will TVD ever celebrate a holiday that is not Halloween?

You mean the Gone With The Wind night doesn’t count? We could have dressed like 1860s slaves. How fun.

    What is your favorite twist/cliffhanger?

The season 2 finale cliffhanger when Jeremy saw Vicki and Anna. I was getting tired of all the “twists” and gross moments by that point. Plus, Elena told Damon that gross line (IIRC “I like you now just the way you are”) which made it absolutely clear to me that the writers don’t give a damn about Elena. But seeing Vicki and Anna again got me legit excited. I can’t believe they didn’t do anything with Anna. They fridged her Jeremy and brought her back to be his appendage.

Who is scarier? Klaus or Rebekah?

Um…I am going to choose Rebekah just because of all the uninvited “guests” I’ve been having lately. My home is practically a homeless shelter. I fear it will never end.

    • She equated stabbing her friend daily to making coffee. LOL

Lol. Lexi is truly bananas. I didn’t even hear her say that.

The Damon/Andie scene where she ends up on the ground crying in her underwear and bleeding from her neck.

That was pretty freaking uncomfortable. I couldn’t believe the producers actually made that scene about Damon.

You mean the Gone With The Wind night doesn’t count? We could have dressed like 1860s slaves.

We have to be period appropriate! And that’s apparently all Black people were back then. Yeah. And the word is not ‘slave,’ Susan, it’s handmaiden. Stefan would be disappointed in you.

      Lmao!

    • The worst thing about the Damon/Andie scene you mentioned was coming onto Tumblr afterwards and finding all these fans who thought the scene was beautiful and proof of Damon’s humanity and wanting to rip my hair out because there were gifs of it all over the place.

  5. No sarcasm, just straight honesty, what scene in TVD genuinely scared you/made you jump? If you don’t have an answer, then what scene came close?

Same as Olu and Susan: when Damon suddenly shows up behind Vicki in the bathroom mirror at the hospital.
Other than that, the second couple Damon kills in early S1: the moment, after the guy has left the tent and it starts ‘raining’ – and we find out that it’s raining his blood.

What scene creeped you out the most?

The scene in which Elena hides in the cabinet in Stefan’s ‘Ripper home’ in Chicago and Stefan comes in. Elena is standing there, in front of Stefan’s long list of victims, and gives him this utterly deranged look. So, so, so creepy. Seriously, I had to look away when I rewatched the ep because it creeped me out so much.

What is the creepiest line ever uttered by a TVD character (whether they/the show meant it to sound creepy or not)?

The special Salvatore brand of unintentional creepiness:
Damon to Elena’s dead body: “Come back as a vampire and I’ll stake you myself.” First, you force your blood down her throat and then you plan on taking away her choices all over again? You, Sir, are the worst.
Stefan: “I came back to this town to start a life with you.” Wahhhhh!!! Run, Elena, run.

When it comes to intentionally creepy lines, it’s funnily enough a line said by Klaus – Klaus! It’s after he has compelled Stefan, when he says to Elena: “I fixed him.” Beyond creepy. (Compelling in general is so incredibly creepy.)

What is the most uncomfortable scene ever aired on TVD?

I’m 100 % with Susan on that one. The Damon and Andie scene at the end of “Klaus”, especially when he says: “I’m upset. You know what happens I’m upset.” It made me sick, too. I think one of the many reasons is because it felt so terribly real, despite the whole ‘vampire’ aspect.

Will TVD ever celebrate a holiday that is not Halloween?

Nope, we can’t have a timeline.

    What is your favorite twist/cliffhanger?

This may be an odd choice but for some reason my favourite cliffhanger ever is the one where an undead Logan Fell shows up at Jenna’s door. I wasn’t expecting that at all and I was genuinely scared for Jenna.(I think that was also a moment where I thought to myself: “Wow, this show is really good.” Sighs.)

Who is scarier? Klaus or Rebekah?

Klaus, despite everything. But, like Olu wrote, Rebekah appears potentially more competent.

    • Damon to Elena’s dead body: “Come back as a vampire and I’ll stake you myself.” First, you force your blood down her throat and then you plan on taking away her choices all over again? You, Sir, are the worst.
Stefan: “I came back to this town to start a life with you.” Wahhhhh!!! Run, Elena, run.

This. All of this. When the Damon line first aired, I ranted about it all over the place like the crazy person I am. It was all about him

As for the Stefan line….Lol. I kinda liked Stelena for this kind of creepiness in season one but that was when I thought the show was going to go somewhere with Elena/Katherine and Katherine/Salvatores.

This was such a WTF moment for me. What was I even supposed to think about this?

      • This was such a WTF moment for me. What was I even supposed to think about this?

I couldn’t believe Elena felt this was romantic. In that moment, she exuded the fact that her life completely revolves around Stefan.

    • Stefan: “I came back to this town to start a life with you.” Wahhhhh!!! Run, Elena, run.

      Lmao!!! Stefan is soooo crazy!

It’s after he has compelled Stefan, when he says to Elena: “I fixed him.”

Yeah, that was pretty creepy. I didn’t notice how deranged he looked until they kept showing it in the recaps before the episodes.

This may be an odd choice but for some reason my favourite cliffhanger ever is the one where an undead Logan Fell shows up at Jenna’s door.

Oh, I love that one! “Aren’t you gonna invite me in?”

      • Oh, I love that one! “Aren’t you gonna invite me in?”

In hindsight, Jenna could’ve gotten so much more out of that SL. If only JP/KW had been more interested in her.

        • All they could think to do with Jenna, despite the fact that she lost her sister and became a parent, almost lost her life because of vampires, and was turned into a vampire, was to have her throw drunken orgies.

But Alaric’s struggle to be a guardian/hunter/whatever is vastly important/interesting.

Let’s be honest, Jenna throwing drunken orgies would be more interesting than half the stuff going on in the show. We’d get to ask questions each week like 1) Who is she going to invite? 2) What kind of alcohol will she serve? 3) What will Carol Lockwood’s face look like? AND people, not Tyler and Caroline, would get laid.

          • Ugh, Alaric. I will never understand how the majority of the fandom thinks that Matt is useless and should be killed off but, at the same time, is of the opinion that Alaric is a very interesting character.

AND people, not Tyler and Caroline, would get laid.

Jenna and Mason. Jenna and Mason. Jenna and Mason. (Don’t mind me. Mason’s appearance in last week’s ep reminded me of how much I shipped him with Jenna. Apparently I’m still bitter.)

    • The scene in which Elena hides in the cabinet in Stefan’s ‘Ripper home’ in Chicago and Stefan comes in. Elena is standing there, in front of Stefan’s long list of victims, and gives him this utterly deranged look.

I remember watching that scene the second time and just not knowing what to make of it. Like was it supposed to be about their love or was it supposed to be about how unhinged she’d become. I mean seriously. It was weird.

Damon to Elena’s dead body: “Come back as a vampire and I’ll stake you myself.” First, you force your blood down her throat and then you plan on taking away her choices all over again? You, Sir, are the worst.

Ugh, there was little to no explanation for his change of heart either. Unless he was thinking “I’m about to die, you don’t get to live forever with my brother” which only makes it worse.

Stefan: “I came back to this town to start a life with you.” Wahhhhh!!! Run, Elena, run.
That was my reaction to that line as well. 1) He came back to town for a routine visit and then he saw her. Stop lying, Stefan. 2) The fuck is going on in his brain. He stalked her for months to make sure she wasn’t Katherine/be a creepy stalker dude and then he decided to be with her and 3) Elena should have run because dude said “to start a life with you” not “get to know you” or “make a friend,” Skittles was going to stick around indefinitely, not letting her know he was a vampire.

That was a great cliffhanger and one of the less, despite the musical cue, overblown ones the show has ever done.

      • Ugh, there was little to no explanation for his change of heart either.

I think it was Elijah saying, “She’s going to hate you forever.” Because he then went to Alaric and said he messed up. I don’t know why he a)believed Elijah despite his experience with Elena’s “hate,” and b)couldn’t figure that out for himself. So really, Damon’s contrition had nothing to do with Elena. She’s never shown to hold a negative emotion against him for long. It was about showcasing how he was “changing,” so he was making all these leaps without any input from Elena (who just told him to “get out of here”).

  6. I know I´m too late for Halloween, but I still wanted to answer

No sarcasm, just straight honesty, what scene in TVD genuinely scared you/made you jump? If you don’t have an answer, then what scene came close?

I can´t remeber all the season one scenes you described but I also thought Vicki´s scenes with Damon in that dream were very scary … also as Elena got attacked in her dream by Damon.
But most recently or better in season 2, I literally jumped out of my seat as Dr. Martin grabbed Bonnie´s head after everyone thought he was dead. I know it´s such a typical horror movie moment … but it scared the hell out of me

What scene creeped you out the most?

Probably season 1 episode “History Repeating” as Bonnie dreamed of Emily in the class room … and after that the girls trying to contact Emily. That was scary as hell for me. I saw a Bonnie video (it´s fantastic) no long ago and the vidder just used these scenes and it looked like out of a very good horror movie.

What is the creepiest line ever uttered by a TVD character (whether they/the show meant it to sound creepy or not)?

That´s an difficult decision … probably most of the lines Damon says to Elena with the words “always” or “never” in it. But Elena´s line in the final “I like you now just the way you are” or something like that creeped me out the most.
Special mention to “I fixed him” from Klaus and “You know what happens when I get mad” from Damon.

What is the most uncomfortable scene ever aired on TVD?

The Damon/Andie scenes especially the one at the end of Klaus and the one with Alaric commenting on their rl. Alaric “should” represent us as a viewer and I couldn´t believe that all he did was saying a useless line. The scene between Elena and Damon as he feeds her his blood and their conversation before with them holding hands. All through that scene I thought something horrible will happen … and I was not wrong about that.

Will TVD ever celebrate a holiday that is not Halloween?

Probably all the different celebration for the namedays of the “founders” and now they have to include a day for the vikings (and probably the Original Family)

    What is your favorite twist/cliffhanger?

Probably Katherine killing Caroline … but I thought something like that would happen after Bonnie spoke about it to Katherine. But I think it was one of the best twists.

Who is scarier? Klaus or Rebekah?

At the moment both of them aren´t very scary, but I will choose Klaus, because Rebekah and her fight for popularity on the Mystic High is ridic … I will take Klaus and his army of sired and subservient hybrids over that.

    • I literally jumped out of my seat as Dr. Martin grabbed Bonnie´s head after everyone thought he was dead.

Dr. Martin was so badass. I RAGED when they killed him off so pointlessly. My fave scene of his was when he came to take away Bonnie’s powers. He came out of nowhere and was scary as hell. Damn this show for not going anywhere with that.

Probably season 1 episode “History Repeating” as Bonnie dreamed of Emily in the class room … and after that the girls trying to contact Emily.

The first half of season one was the best. I know a lot of people think the show got better after that but it is the opposite for me. Most of my favorite moments, including the one you mentioned, were in the first half of the first season. I liked the whole vibe of dead ancestors from a brutal time showing up to wreak havoc. Like you can’t really escape your history.

    • Probably season 1 episode “History Repeating” as Bonnie dreamed of Emily in the class room … and after that the girls trying to contact Emily. That was scary as hell for me.

Yes!!! Completely forgot to mention this in my list. That was very scary. (And I saw the fan video you’re talking about, too. It’s awesome.)

The Damon/Andie scenes especially the one at the end of Klaus and the one with Alaric commenting on their rl. Alaric “should” represent us as a viewer and I couldn´t believe that all he did was saying a useless line.

This. I couldn’t believe it either. I was like, “Did this really happen?” That was the exact moment I started shipping Alaric/death.

      • This. I couldn’t believe it either. I was like, “Did this really happen?” That was the exact moment I started shipping Alaric/death.

Me too! Damon wasn’t even raping some random woman.(Although, that would have been horrible too.). Damon was raping his gf’s friend. So this *human* guy can’t even care about people in his social circle. He can only care about his own life unless someone convinces him to care about others. Look at how he reacted when Damon hurt *him* and look at how Elena had to convince him to give a damn about his wife’s daughter and gf’s nephew. I might waver sometimes but I always come back to Alaric/Death.

        • Yes to all of this.

(Plus, he was super comfortable with lying to Jenna about what was going on around her. But when UJ showed up and threatened to tell her the truth, he suddenly consulted Elena and was all like “I can’t do this anymore, I can’t keep lying to Jenna” as if he had been feeling bad about this all along.)

I might waver sometimes but I always come back to Alaric/Death.

Yup, that’s how it is for me too.
