The Reckoning: where the people who grew up together will actually interact with each other.

Thank you for the suggestion, Cana!

Speculate on the possibilities, the probabilities, the things that will never happen, worse case scenarios, and your fears. Don’t forget to include your wishes. Mine is for Bonnie to talk to Caroline about the ghosts and for her and Jeremy to have a discussion about it.

Important questions: how long do you suppose we’ll have to spend with Elena, Stefan, and that ticking clock. Oh my God, this is going to be like Stefan and Amber. Only not good.

Synopsis

Extended promo Elena maybe you could try running instead of preaching.

Important Question: On a scale from one to ten, how hard is Katherine inserting herself into this story?

  1. I would. 😉 I love feed off of other peoples minds. ;D Muahahahahahahahahahahahahaaa! I think it would help keep us warm during those hiatus’.

    • Total OT because I am too delirious from lack of sleep to post much else – You are tempting so much with your funny posts to get a tumblr account. MUST resist. Trying to resist…

  2. worst case scenario: two episodes from this one, after Stefan and Co terrorize the school, Elena will be asking Jeremy to use his ghost seeing abilities to contact Stefan and it will lead to disastrous consequences for Jeremy because he needs to be included on the trauma.

    oh wait?

      • She is the worst thing ever. And I’m sitting her waiting for everyone in town to notice this and come after her …

    • worst case scenario: two episodes from this one, after Stefan and Co terrorize the school, Elena will be asking Jeremy to use his ghost seeing abilities to contact Stefan and it will lead to disastrous consequences for Jeremy because he needs to be included on the trauma.

      Lmao.
If I wouldn´t be such a spoiler addict, I would seriously think that´s not possible.

  3. Yes please.
Why is there a ticking clock. Is Klaus being clever and sinster in Mystic Falls. He seems to have a plan in the previews but maybe Klaus isn’t a moron he just left his brain in Mystic Falls or two orinigals equal one brain.

    • Lmao. I’m pretty sure they’re on the basketball court. I think Klaus’ plan is to see if Stefan is truly over Elena. Or something. If this episode doesn’t end with Klaus killing Elena, then…what’s the point? Are they going to tell me that Klaus won’t be able to guess that Elena being alive is what’s keeping his plan from working?

      • Are they going to tell me that Klaus won’t be able to guess that Elena being alive is what’s keeping his plan from working?

This won’t make sense since Klaus specifically mentioned killing her as being integral to the curse being broken, so I don’t get how he would miss her being alive as being a problem.

The writers can’t be that lazy. I know they can, but give me this moment. They can’t be that lazy. Let them waste this storyline, but don’t let it be because Klaus misses the fact that he’d be better off with Elena dead.

  4. I just watched the extended preview:

+ What exactly is the significance of 9 minutes? We better not spend a whole episode on 9 minutes.

+ Was Matt holding onto rope? From the promo pics it looks like he’s going to be hanging out with Bonnie in the hallway. They all look pretty calm for the most part. Hope they have a conversation about the ghosts. Is it sad that Matt and Bonnie having a scene together is what I’m looking forward to the most?

+ How hard would it have been to have Stefan say, “I’m not going to want to stop,” instead of talking about whether he’d be able to stop? ugh!

+ Damon is hanging about. It looks like at some point he’s going to help Elena and make out with Katherine.

+ Matt or Tyler or Jeremy (though I’m not sure if Jeremy is even in the school. There was that one bts pic of Steve and Malese messing around with science lab stuff, so maybe at some point) are standing by a pool or falling over into a pool or something.

    • Damon is hanging about. It looks like at some point he’s going to help Elena and make out with Katherine.

Why can’t this guy ever miss an ep? Is it in his contract? Also, I was looking forward to his road trip with Katherine. I actually like the messed up dynamic of Damon/Katherine. Now it looks like he ends up back in town almost immediately

      • I remember JP saying once that the only people who don’t get days off are Paul, Ian, and Nina. She didn’t say it like that, but she basically did.

    • I’m wondering if we’ll finally get a Bonnie/Tyler scene.

But I’m curious as to what Matt and Bonnie are going to talk about.

I need Bonnie/Jeremy to talk about the ghosts like you wouldn’t believe. It’s what I want the most for next episode.

+ How hard would it have been to have Stefan say, “I’m not going to want to stop,” instead of talking about whether he’d be able to stop? ugh!

Especially since, like I told you, he fed on the girl in this episode until he killed her and had no problem. It’s freaking ridiculous that the heroine’s boyfriend is going to justify to her why he has to hurt her. She’s not even safe from her own boyfriend. That’s how bad this show is.

      • I need:

        Bonnie/Jeremy discussion about the ghosts.

Bonnie/Matt conversation about whatever it is they’re going to be talking about…hopefully it’s about the ghosts or about Jeremy and not like homework or something. It might seem ridiculous, but this show is what it is.

It’s freaking ridiculous that the heroine’s boyfriend is going to justify to her why he has to hurt her. She’s not even safe from her own boyfriend. That’s how bad this show is.

I don’t get it. If they changed one word, he would literally be taking responsibility for biting her and for wanting to kill in general, but no. Can’t have that. Wouldn’t want to have this storyline not be half-assed and gross.

    • What exactly is the significance of 9 minutes? We better not spend a whole episode on 9 minutes.

Perhaps it stands for the nine month Stefan/Elena were together and how they past by so fast.
Everytime I see this clock I think Keither Sutherland runs around the corner and tries to save the world (and of course Elena) I know 24 only had that normal clock in the scenes … but I can´t get rid of this thought.

Damon is hanging about. It looks like at some point he’s going to help Elena and make out with Katherine.

I seriously hoped he wouldn´t be in MF during this Klaus/Stefan plot … I wanted the group to work together and get sh*** done without this horrible person.
But no … of course he has to come back and “save” the day. Urgh. I see an “epic” Damon/Elena scene coming.
Damon please just go away and visit a hairdresser and an ophthalmologist.

Matt or Tyler or Jeremy are standing by a pool or falling over into a pool or something.

Perhaps that has something to do with the prank night. Don´t know who jumps into the pool but I think it´s either Jeremy or Matt.
First I thought the Bonnie running scene would have something to do with Klaus and her rescuing Elena but it could also be because of a prank.

      • nine month

Don´t know if they are together for so many months, because TVD never tells us how much time has passed by … only a speculation.

      • <Everytime I see this clock I think Keither Sutherland runs around the corner and tries to save the world (and of course Elena)

This is hilarious to me for some reason. I’m just imagining Kiefer Sutherland saving the world and then looking over his shoulder and going, “Oh yeah, Elena.”

      • Perhaps it stands for the nine month Stefan/Elena were together and how they past by so fast.

Oh my God, this is killing me! Lmao! Please don’t go there, show. I get it. Stelena is a great love.

Damon please just go away and visit a hairdresser and an ophthalmologist.

Lol! One of my Fandom friends said she thought Damon’s wig was going to fly off when Caroline backhanded him.

  5. I am actually looking forward to seeing how Caroline, Tyler and especially Matt are going to be useful in this situation. What could Matt possibly do? I hope they don’t turn him into bait to lure Elena out. I wonder if ghost!Vicky will come to the rescue. I am not sure how the ghost stuff works yet but she did move that picture right after Jeremy left Matt alone. So technically she moved something when she was alone with Matt.

    • OMG! I forgot that Bonnie isn’t that powerful anymore because she can’t channel the witches anymore. I wonder if they will come through her because he life is in danger. Maybe Emily will do something to help her?

    • Are they not going to just be trapped in the school? As far as usefulness goes, I doubt any of them are going to be that useful against Klaus and Rebecca. Especially since Bonnie no longer has the powers of all the witches backing her up. Though maybe Emily will step in or something. Or they’ll outsmart them considering Stefan is going to be all sweaty loops and Klaus may just be a rock and Rebecca will be busy doing who knows what with Caroline.

I seriously hope ghost!Vicki comes in to protect Matt and inadvertently helps protect them all or at least whoever Matt is with at the time. There’s the scene where it looks like Matt (or maybe Tyler) are going to jump off or into something and maybe she’ll step in then?

      • As far as usefulness goes, I doubt any of them are going to be that useful against Klaus and Rebecca.

Oh right. This is TVD – not Teen Wolf. All the characters will fail and be stupid.

There is a Teen Wolf ep that has a similar premise. Have you watched it? If you have, we can make fun of how much TVD fails in comparison when the ep airs. LOL

        • I love that episode of Teen Wolf. If only TVD let the characters have brains. We don’t even know if anyone other than Jeremy is good at school. As it is, the only people who consistently go to school are Matt, Jeremy, and Bonnie (Jeremy and Bonnie are missing in action often enough that I’ve decided that they go to school).

None of them can be secret molotov cocktail geniuses.

      • Klaus may just be a rock

        *Dead and gone*

I would love it if Vicky protected Matt. I also (probably not in this episode) want Bonnie to put her foot down and say she’s going to contact them and ask what they want, and she’ll contact Vicky first because Anna’s warnings aside, they did grow up with Vicky and they know Vicky’s brother, and there should be a part of them that doesn’t think messed up, druggie Vicky could hurt them despite what Anna says.

        • she’ll contact Vicky first because Anna’s warnings aside, they did grow up with Vicky and they know Vicky’s brother, and there should be a part of them that doesn’t think messed up, druggie Vicky could hurt them despite what Anna says.

I would love that if only for the fact that it would be about their shared history and how, no matter what Anna feels for Jeremy or whatever he might feel for her, they know Vicki and that means something.

    • I hope the Matt/Tyler/Caroline triangle doesn’t come up. If they’re even thinking about going there, then I’d rather Matt and Tyler act like they don’t even know the other’s in the room.

      • If Matt and Tyler could have a conversation w/o mentioning Caroline or having Caroline hanging over their every word, I would love that. Because they haven’t had a real conversation since Masquerade.

  6. I’m just wondering how Stefan is going to be redeemed from this when the writers won’t even fully commit to the idea that he is doing something wrong and that it’s wrong for a wide variety of reasons including but not limited to the fact that killing a bunch of people so Damon & Elena can live is selfish and not self-sacrificing when Stefan actually likes killing people. But the writers keeping cushioning his actions and talking about his lack of control while also showing him being completely in control.

So I want to know how he’s going to come back from something that the writers aren’t fully invested in. If Stefan would let go and actually start talking about how much he’s enjoying himself then there would be something to come back from. If he stopped talking about protecting Elena or Damon or even caring about them then there would be something to come back from. At the moment, Stefan is incapable of redemption because the writers refuse to let him own his actions & while Stefan’s ability to justify his actions may be in character, it’s always gone hand in hand with him talking about being wrong. He’s able to justify how wrong he is and that is fucked up, but the show is not only with him, it chooses to passively contradict him at the same time. So he’s somehow enjoying what he’s doing and justifying it, instead of enjoying and not caring about the justifications until later. Which would be something he has to come back from. The point of Stefan on blood and Stefan off blood has always been, despite the writers’s double speak, that Stefan enjoys killing and torturing people and is actually more than a bit of a sadist, while he’s drinking human blood. He doesn’t care. When he’s not drinking human blood, he still has those desires, but he also is capable or willing or unable to deny feelings of shame and guilt. If he doesn’t let go then he’s full on crazy bananas. Bunnies and squirrels won’t mean anything if this is a state he can exist in.

I’m just rambling now. I’m going to shut up.

    • At the moment, Stefan is incapable of redemption because the writers refuse to let him own his actions

Yes. Right now all that’s needed for Stefan to come back is for him to just…decide to come back. He’s not out of control; he’s not being held captive because Klaus is a rock like you said. There’s no reason Stefan shouldn’t be in Mystics Falls going to high school other than…wait for it…the plot requires it. Stefan being with Klaus is not character-driven because his character is getting nothing out of it. He had a plan in this episode. It wasn’t executed. I think there was a spoiler for this episode about him trying to get out. Instead Klaus took him back to Mystic Falls. Now that I’m thinking about it, I’m going to say that Stefan being brought back to Mystic Falls unconscious, him just opening his eyes and boom! he’s in Mystic Falls, is a metaphor for how his story’s going. He’s sleeping through the story, imo because the writers are not letting him own anything. The story is being told for him; his motivations are being articulated for him by Klaus, Katherine, Damon, Elena, and Gloria.

      • Stefan being brought back to Mystic Falls unconscious, him just opening his eyes and boom! he’s in Mystic Falls, is a metaphor for how his story’s going. Exactly. It’s poor storytelling. The plot is too weak to make it worth it and no character growth is coming from it. What we’re learning about Stefan are a bunch of facts about things he’s done that inform previous character moments. Basically we’re learning the facts behind Stefan being a sociopath (murder wall, choosing to kill people for Klaus to “protect” Damon and Elena, passive aggressively asking why he’s still there), but we’ve got no idea about his thoughts. If he feels close to Klaus despite himself and a bunch of other stuff. & by continually mentioning “control” (after s2 was spent basically establishing Stefan’s level of control) they’re robbing him of even minor glimpses of him resisting, if only for a second. How much of a creepy contradiction of fucked up manipulation would it be, not to mention a callback to Amber, to have Stefan tell his victims to run or apologize to them or ask them how they are, before he kills them?

But the writers aren’t into that.

  7. OT before I go to bed.

JP is still getting bombarded by Tweets from angry Damon/Delena stans. It is very entertaining to watch.

Many are pissed that Caroline was able to beat up Damon. As if Damon has never taken on a house full of vampires or killed an older vampire before. Oh and poor Damon is the punching bag of the show and he never gets love. He does SO MUCH for the other characters. They would all be dead without him. The show is going to be cancelled any second now because they are going to stop watching.

I kinda feel bad for laughing at them. Oh well. I am a horrible person I guess

    • Lmao. No lie, I saw someone say that they’ve spent all this time building Stefan’s character so they hope the show focuses on Damon after all of this is over.

I think they went from watching season 1 straight to watching season 3.

      • I saw someone say that they’ve spent all this time building Stefan’s character so they hope the show focuses on Damon after all of this is over.

        *dead*

If they focus on his dead by an angry mob, then I´m up for that.

    • Many are pissed that Caroline was able to beat up Damon. As if Damon has never taken on a house full of vampires or killed an older vampire before.

      Ikr?

  8. So Alaric won’t be in this episode? So there won’t be any follow-up on this week’s episode? On him joining the council?

Lol at the clock ticking down. Are the writers serious?

Finally, Klaus deepens his hold on Stefan (Paul Wesley) and uses him for increasingly violent and dangerous purposes.

So these “increasingly violent purposes” are Klaus trying to get Stefant to kill Elena? What? So this is supposed to be more violent than, say, Klaus telling him to kill those two girls in the premier (and making sure that one of them suffers) and to torture Ray (although… come to think of that, Stefan actually volunteered for that one). I don’t understand.

    • It only matters when it’s Elena, obviously. That’s why from next episode going forward, the characters will start talking about finding a way to kill Klaus. Because he’ll now know Elena’s alive.

    • I don’t understand.

And none of us ever will. I’m just wondering, since they are already being so half-assed about this Ripper storyline–I think part of the problem was creating a word to define what Stefan is when crazy serial killer works just as well and I feel like creating a word provides another level of distance because it becomes about ‘this is something that happens to certain vampires’ instead of Stefan can control himself and this seeming lack of control is just a different form of control geared towards being a serial killer– I was wondering why they didn’t have Stefan compelled from the start of the season?

Klaus could have compelled him to do any number of things and I just, if they wanted to give him a get out of jail free card, why not just have all of this be completely against his will?

      • Not only did they create the word, they also defined it and Stefan is not living up to that definition. They made it seem like being a Ripper was a category: if you’re a Ripper then you’re ripping all the time. If you’re normal then you’re normal all the time. Miss Mystic Falls and the flashbacks made it seem like once Stefan gets on blood, that’s all he can think about. That and screwing with people. In this season? He’s doing retail therapy.

Also, this Ripper thing seems to be exclusive to Stefan. If they wanted to make this an actual, you know, story, they would have had Stefan talking about other Rippers throughout history. Are all of them dead? If his family could know about vampires in 1864, then he should know about other Rippers. Is Jeremy the only one capable of using a computer?

I agree. Stefan being compelled this whole time would be a lot less irritating if only because we wouldn’t have the justification that he’s doing this to save the two people he loves.

The only time Stefan really lived up to the definition was in the premiere when he was a literal Ripper. Because despite Lexi bringing it up in the flashbacks in The Dinner Party, Stefan hadn’t actually ripped anyone apart. He was clearly going to kill those women, but for the most part it was his typical feed/torment/hunt behavior. He was out of control in comparison to our previous view of Stefan but at the end of it he was just killing a lot of people without concern or compassion. Which would help us understand the retail therapy because why shouldn’t he be able to shop, but makes the Ripper/blood addiction thing not work.

They basically created a word to give Stefan a category (to find some way to make his actions not his fault or less his fault) and then they didn’t know how to make him fit it other than having him literally rip people apart.

Is Jeremy the only one capable of using a computer?

          Yes.

          • That’s true, but what I mean is that each time we’ve seen Stefan regularly feeding on people, he has always looked a little unhinged even when not feeding, from Miss Mystic Falls to The Dinner Party and even in The End of The Affair. There was a light in his eyes and he looked so relaxed. In the present in this season, he’s so serious and broody and he’s only fake relaxed. The retail therapy is fine because what you said makes sense, he should be able to stop. I guess I’m just complaining about his attitude. Lol. You wouldn’t know he hates being on human blood considering how clear his conscience apparently is.

            Lmao.

            • Thinking about it when it comes to his attitude, you’re right. His smiles are easier and his body language is less heavy. Even when he was trying to tell Elena he as going to stop and lying about it and racking his brain about it, he did it with less broodiness. I wanted more of that from this storyline. As it is, he’s not enjoying it, but he doesn’t hate it either and that means nothing in terms of character growth. Or story even.

You wouldn’t know he hates being on human blood considering how clear his conscience apparently is.

He’s very matter of fact about the entire thing.

              • I think that’s part of the reason I liked this line so much, “That’s good. It’s good to want things, Katherine.” This jokey/I’m not gonna give you what you want/relaxed demeanor is what I feel his attitude should be. He should’ve been dropping a lot more zingers like that.

                • His tone and his expression were really great during that scene. He needs more moments like that. I actually thought, they were going to let Stefan be snarky and drop little truth bombs or at least lie in order to use his words to hurt people, specifically Damon.

  9. Things I want

Bonnie/Jeremy talking about the ghost situation.

Bonnie/Matt conversation that is about them not Caroline or Elena. He is technically the only none supernatural being there. They haven’t talked since he found out about all of them I’m excited for this.

For Klaus to buy a clue I heard he doesn’t even know Bonnie is alive double shock for him in Mystic Falls.

I guess Katherine will tell Damon about the ghosts and Jeremy, I’m dreading the interaction between the two I don’t like how Damon talks to him but we’ll see.

So this week Caroline got to kick Damon’s ass, and next week Rebecca will bring her down a peg because that’s how this show works.

I think they will end up playing a game of life or something like that. Where he is going to make them do things/challenges to survive hence someone jumping into the pool with rope it looks like. Bonnie running
    IDK.

I hate that a lot of the preview is Elena is in danger we all know she will be fine.

    • For Klaus to buy a clue I heard he doesn’t even know Bonnie is alive double shock for him in Mystic Falls.

This will be the most eyeroll-worthy part of the episode. A big part of me is hoping that rumor is wrong, but I heard JP and KW said it in some interview, so it might not just be a flub in Kat’s interview. What’s going to be their excuse? Klaus suffered loss of memory after transitioning? He temporarily went blind and deaf? Where did he think the extra pain was coming from during the transition? You know the producers are hard up for ideas when they start erasing previously established things in order to write more story. See: this crap about how Elena didn’t die so Klaus can’t make more hybrids. She did die.

      • For Klaus to buy a clue I heard he doesn’t even know Bonnie is alive double shock for him in Mystic Falls.

I only saw Kat speaking about that in the Zap2it interview … and Carina didn´t say anything about that. Kat was in her outfit for the filming, but I don´t recognize that top from the last episode … either they filmed ep 5 at that moment or the next ep.
But it looks like they won´t interact in that episode, because why would she say something like that if she had read the script for this episode and there would be some interaction.

But I recognize her Bonnie outfit of ep. 5 from that JM/Kat picture which she tweeted some weeks ago. But they probably made that during a break.

Where is the interview in which Julie talks about that?
Until now I never saw her speaking about Bonnie´s part in that Klaus/Stefan storyline … I only saw that tweet from an interview with KW and the speculation about her involvement.

Is there this year the NY Comic Con, too? And will Kat attend it this time again … because she wasn´t in San Diego?

        • I have never seen the interview. People just keep saying the producers said Klaus wouldn’t know she’s alive. So I’m taking it with a grain of salt.

I think the Con is supposed to be October 15-16th? I have to look it up to refresh my memory, and find out if TVD will actually be there.

    • Bonnie/Matt conversation that is about them not Caroline or Elena. He is technically the only none supernatural being there. They haven’t talked since he found out about all of them I’m excited for this

I want this so bad, YES!

      I can’t believe we’ve seen Matt’s house and not Bonnie’s. :-\

  10. Some speculation:

    – I guess it’s safe to say that Klaus will compell Stefan. That’s probably where Bill’s lines about the mind being a powerful tool and “you only have to be strong enough” will come in.

    – Since 3×04 was pretty much about why nobody should want to be around Damon, I’m afraid that this episode will probably show him saving the day and send the message: “Yeah, Damon is a psychopath but see, these kids need him.” I hope not, but this is TVD. Maybe if we’re lucky he will only save Elena, it will all about D/E and the other characters will be left out if it.

    Things I want:

    – I don’t have any speculation on the ghost sl. But I hope we get to see Vicki in this episode.
    – Oh, so this is the episode with the Bonnie/Matt interaction? I’m definitely looking forward to that.
    – Matt and Tyler have a conversation that is about their friendship and not about Caroline
    – This to be the last episode in a while which we see Katharine. She is not needed.
    – The plot to make some kind of sense.

Like Tavi, I’m dreading the interaction between Damon and Jeremy.

    • Ugh. I already see it. He’ll save Elena from evil Stefan and Elena will be all hurt and talking about how much she believed in him while tending to Damon’s wounds (because he has to get hurt for dramatic effect).

I’ll be so freaking annoyed if Damon saves everyone. What the heck is Bonnie? If a vampire as young as Damon can save them from two Originals, then Bonnie should certainly be able to do it. I want her (and maybe Caroline) to save everyone else from Rebecca and Damon can handle saving Elena from Klaus.

      – Oh, so this is the episode with the Bonnie/Matt interaction? I’m definitely looking forward to that.

We’ll also have interaction in the very next episode!

Yeah, I hope Katherine goes away for a while after this too. I’m already tired of her.

Like Tavi, I’m dreading the interaction between Damon and Jeremy.

      So am I.

    • I guess it’s safe to say that Klaus will compell Stefan. That’s probably where Bill’s lines about the mind being a powerful tool and “you only have to be strong enough” will come in.

I think that will be important too.
And I can see it before my eyes … Klaus will compel both Salvatore brothers, Stefan to kill her and Damon probably to stand by and watch and only Damon´s mind will be powerful enough to resist the compulsion and will save her. Then all will be forgiven and like Alta said Elena will tend his wounds.

      • Ew, Damon’s mind is not powerful enough for anything. But…damn it. Since Bill said that line to him, they could have Damon overcome compulsion. By the oldest vampire ever. Meanwhile Katherine needed vervain to do that. I’m adding this to the list of things I don’t want to see.

        • If they introduced resisting compulsion just so they could have Damon resist it and resist it from the oldest vampire of all time? Fuck that noise. If that happens then I’m going to have to stop paying attention to what they do with the vampires for awhile.

If they’d made it about loopholes, instead of resistance, like if the person being compelled was able to reasonable reach a point just before they officially broke the compulsion and accomplish something in terms of resistance, then that would be something. If there were some sort of mystical consequence, like pain or something. Maybe. But it’s not going to be done like that and I’m just going to side eye my screen and hope for a scene break to Bonnie and Matt or Jeremy and Caroline or paint drying.

          • or paint drying.

            You’re cracking me up.

Everything you said is a better idea than what they might do. This introduce this idea of humans being able to resist compulsion by way of a two-episode guest star. Why couldn’t they have made that Alaric’s pet project? Or Liz? Or Matt? Or Jeremy? Someone we know? How did Bill even practice this? Did he hold a vampire hostage and torture him into compelling him over and over?

            • I was actually hoping it would be something they would have Matt try and do because with the exceptions of Caroline, compulsion has been used against him far more often than most of the other characters. Maybe Jeremy too. So I was hoping for him to make it a project. Though I’d accept it being a project for the council in general. Bill can’t be the first person who has ever thought to resist compulsion.

How did Bill even practice this? Did he hold a vampire hostage and torture him into compelling him over and over?

              lmao!

              Bill: COMPEL ME!
              Vampire: *sideeyeing Bill* Let…me…go?

              *five minutes later*
Bill: *waking up on the floor* DAMMIT!

                • I think it will be Stefan who will be able to resist compulsion. We know that he is supposed to attack Elena in this ep. I bet he will be able to resist Klaus’ compulsion 🙄 The reason I think this is that Gloria went on and on about how epic the Stelena love is and she also said that he has discipline. It looks like he was able to resist her magic for a bit. She had to put some effort into it. There. That was his practice according to the show – One instance of slightly resisting magical interrogation/spirit reading (or wtvr that was) and his truly Epic Lurve.

                  • I agree with Susan. I think Stefan will resist Klaus’ compulsion but only after biting Elena. Cause that’s how epic their love is, lol. Elena will be upset because she would never have expected Stefan to do sth like that to her and will cry on Damon’s shoulder. But one episode later, she will come to the conclusion that Stefan can still be saved and try to contact him. Yup.

                  • Uuuuggghhh. At this point, I want Stefan to attack Elena just son he can “officially” go off the rails and I can be spared his private camera shots of I’m Not Really With These Bad People.

                    • his private camera shots of I’m Not Really With These Bad People.

                      lmao!

Also, yes. The rails need to be loss and destroyed. I don’t even care how at this point. Just let them be gone.

  11. What if this episode is good? I know it seems ridiculous but, with the exception if everyone buying a clue about how Klaus needs to die because he’s attacking Elena (though that doesn’t even seem like it will last very long because Elena’s alive in the next episode and Stefan is running different errands), what if the episode wasn’t a complete clusterfuck of fail?

+ Conversations are between Matt, Jeremy, Bonnie, Tyler, and Caroline about their actual lives, including but not limited to the ghosts, Caroline’s dad, Elena’s craycray, Vicki, how Bonnie’s dealing with the ghost situation, what any of them think about the fact that Stefan is batshit, and their surprise that there are other classrooms, and apparently a pool, in the school.

They work together to save themselves from Rebecca and/or Klaus.

+ Klaus at the very least stabs Damon. He was more violent with Stefan last season and Stefan wasn’t fucking up his plans half as much as Damon is always attempting to do.

+ Stefan dies. It won’t happen, but it’s not like they’re doing what they could be doing with his character so he may as well be dead.

+ Elena buys a clue. Or seven.

+ Neither Rebecca or Caroline are overly jealous.

+ The writers don’t insert random new students (who will either be female or a poc) in order to have them die. For the shock of it all.

+ Whatever Matt’s going to do feel like he finally has some power or control isn’t so stupid that we’ll be face palming over how stupid and/or OOC it is for him.

+ The only person something stupid is Elena. Since we already know that she’s going to tell Stefan she can help him and Stefan’s going to voice the question everyone is asking.

I just hope that, whatever happens, I enjoy what Bonnie/Jeremy/Matt/Caroline/Tyler are up to.

    • What if this episode is good?

I’m sorry. I didn’t read any further before I felt like laughing.

and their surprise that there are other classrooms, and apparently a pool, in the school.

LOL! This is reminding me of the Boy Meets World Halloween episode where Eric goes, “When did this school get a library?”

I would be so surprised and happy if this episode ended up being mostly good and only a little bad (because of Stefan/Elena/Klaus/Damon). I’d be so happy and I feel like the odds are in favor of it being good because we have the interesting characters in scenes together and talking to each other.

      Elena’s craycray

I’d love it if they talked behind Elena’s back, tbh. Come on, with a group of friends that large they have to talk behind each other’s backs and it’s not a bad thing. Like in season 1 when Caroline complained to Bonnie about Elena. I’d love a scene this season of Caroline and Bonnie talking about their displeasure at Elena/Damon. Just ranting about it. I’m in a group of 3 friends and we talk behind each other’s backs: sometimes it’s complaining and other times we just comment on the other’s life. I fantasized, before The Birthday aired even though I knew Bonnie wasn’t going to be in it, about Bonnie and Caroline talking about Elena hanging on to Stefan with Bonnie voicing that he should be killed. And maybe Elena would walk in and go, “No, go ahead. Keep talking behind my back.” And they’d air their grievances and Caroline could say what she did about letting her life pass by. *Sigh.*

I just hope that, whatever happens, I enjoy what Bonnie/Jeremy/Matt/Caroline/Tyler are up to.

Me too. And may Katherine stay away from the high school.

We’re 4 episodes in and no one besides Elena and Damon (and Alaric) has talked about what they think of Stefan being with Klaus.

      • LOL! This is reminding me of the Boy Meets World Halloween episode where Eric goes, “When did this school get a library?”

If they don’t at least attempt to make a few jokes about how they’re usually only in one classroom then I will have to give up hope on the writers possessing imaginations.

We’re 4 episodes in and no one besides Elena and Damon (and Alaric) has talked about what they think of Stefan being with Klaus.

We’re 4 episodes in and we don’t know if anyone other than Elena and Damon (& Alaric) know that Stefan has been killing people. Tyler blames himself, but he still seems to be under the impression that Stefan is like a prisoner or something.

If Katherine decided that getting trapped in a building with Klaus and Rebecca was just a stupid idea no matter how many future leaders of tomorrow could be trapped in the building too and flounced away to like Spain or something, I’d be cool with that.

        • They totally won’t. You know they won’t. This show likes to drop meta, but it has no idea how to poke fun at itself. Like I said before, it’s not as self-aware as it thinks it is.

          Also true. Ugh.

    • What if this episode is good?

      LOLOLOLOL *Dying*

Ok, the one thing that would MAKE this season for me is if Gloria is not really dead. IDGAF She is not dead. She will show up next ep to claim the necklace

+ Conversations are between Matt, Jeremy, Bonnie, Tyler, and Caroline about their actual lives, including but not limited to the ghosts, Caroline’s dad, Elena’s craycray, Vicki, how Bonnie’s dealing with the ghost situation, what any of them think about the fact that Stefan is batshit,

If they don’t some of this, we can safely concluded that they are not even trying. What is the point of trapping most of your characters in one place if they are not going to talk about all the crap that has been happening around them?

+ Whatever Matt’s going to do feel like he finally has some power or control isn’t so stupid that we’ll be face palming over how stupid and/or OOC it is for him.

OMG! Yes. But I am not even sure what would be OOC for Matt anymore. They ignored him for like a season and a half. Maybe he is a changed man. Who knows? I have been waiting for Matt stuff for AGES. I hope they don’t screw him up this season.

  12. I can’t wait. This is the show I want to watch. beautiful scene shot without a Salvatore in sight. beautiful! Please let these characters Talk.

Spell! Spell the room so that they can’t leave and no one can get in, But Get Jeremy in there first!

Oooh Elena you got some Splanin’ to do! LET THEM TALK!

  13. Hi,

Could you guys settle something for me? Does TVD exclusively target teenage girls? I keep reading this and it is kind of throwing me for a loop. Someone just posted on TWOP that True Blood is for adult audiences but TVD is for teenage girls. But when I look at the themes of both shows, it seems to me that TVD is way more disturbing. True Blood is mostly OTT but I don’t find it that disturbing. Let’s just take the dead people mythology on this show vs. that mythology for TB. In TVD, when witches die a violent death, their energy/spirit/wtvr sticks around where they died. I mean, the massacred witches are forever in the witch house. Now Anna is saying that vampires might be stuck forever alone. In TB, it was established near the end of last season that while some spirits are stuck on earth because they need closure to move on, most spirits are at peace after death (humans and witches anyway). How can TVD be targeting 14 yr olds? There is so much senseless violence and rape on this show. At least, on TB, characters occasionally call each other out on this stuff. And sometimes even vampires feel bad for murdering people. What a novel idea! There is *some* morality on TB. There is like none on TVD.

If they are seriously targeting teenagers, this is a government experiment like Olu suggested in her blog.

    • Lol. But see the official theme of TVD according to the producers is one of family and lineage and this girl having to choose between two brothers and said girl is realistic and worldly, so yeah it’s probably targeting teenage girls. The theme of the snow changes with every interview they give. Plus we don’t know that ever ghost ends up alone. Anna didn’t generalize; she just talked about herself.

      • Yeah, the Anna thing is just my headcannon for now but isn’t the show super disturbing in general? I mean, there is rape on TB too but at least, people refer to it as such. Tara describes what Franklin did to her as rape and bashed his head in because of it. Can you imagine that happening to Damon on this show? Jason also calls what the panther idiots did to him rape. Lafayette had nightmares from the time Eric tortured him because the show actually acknowledges that it was torture in a half-assed way. He wasn’t over it in two secs like Caroline is always over her tortures.

I get that we don’t know about Anna for sure but what about the dead witches? That has always bothered me. My former fandom friend’s theory was that witch spirits could travel back and forth from the afterlife and that the locations of their violent deaths had some pull on them. But the show has not established that. What is your opinion? Are the witch ghosts forever prisoners in the house where they died unless they possess someone?

        • Oh the show is definitely disturbing and it’s BECAUSE it usually glosses over things most people find problematic and gross.

I don’t remember who said it but they said when a witch died violently, they emitted an energy marking the place where they’d been killed, so I don’t think the witches’ spirits are stuck at the house. I don’t think it would make sense for Bonnie to summon Emily in the finale if she was stuck in the house. I could be wrong and they might change it with this ghost thing, but that’s what I’m going with for now. So I agree with your friend that they can travel back and forth.

  14. I rater Katherine’s self-insertion an 8. I was amused, in an almost annoyed way, at how much the producers are trying to keep her relevant. Klaus hasn’t thought about her in 4 episodes yet she’s talking like he’s still after her.

One of my Fandom friends speculated that Katherine has Jeremy in the trunk, and I think she’s right. Good to know Jeremy wouldn’t willingly talk to Damon.

  15. Bonnie is going to kill them, all I know is they better not let her find out what they have done to Jeremy.

Why does Katherine think Jeremy’s ability could help them get Klaus, who doesn’t care about her anymore.

    • Bonnie is going to kill them, all I know is they better not let her find out what they have done to Jeremy.

When I read the synopsis for this episode, I had this thought that, after the season finale, Bonnie had told Damon he better not come within seeing distance of Jeremy. And so when she found out he’d talked to Jeremy, she’d go, “I smell smoke.” And it would be the end of Damon. Or she’d at least give him an aneurysm.

  16. So I watched the webclip … and I seriously couldn´t understand what Katherines goal of this roadtrip is.
I think it is Jeremy in the trunk, too!

But what could he do to help them (only because he sees his dead girlfriends doesn´t mean that he can contact a dead witch) and on the other hand what does she think she will gain if she has the necklace?
Klaus will seriously come after her if he finds out … and that after he didn´t care for her the last four episodes.

Another question is … if it is really Jeremy why aren´t Bonnie or Elena on the search for him and rather participate that prank night. Don´t know how much time has passed, but shouldn´t they be worried about him?

Urgh I don´t know anything anymore. This show.

      • You could be right about that … but I thought Katherine had already all planed out as she comes to Damon.

The writers do this the second time with Bonnie, the first time she told Katherine without knowing that Caroline had campire blood in her system and she was killed and now the do the same with Jeremy (not the killing part) but he will be harmed because of that.

    • and I seriously couldn´t understand what Katherines goal of this roadtrip is.

I don’t either. Where the heck is he taking them? And I was rolling my eyes at the fact that Damon said he’s not going to keep driving unless she spills. Like she forced him to come or something.

  17. I saw some spiler talk from Ausiello … don´t know how to put in links, so I will simply copy and past … Credit goes to Ausiello

Question: Anything else you can share about this week’s Vampire Diaries? It looks epic. —Brad
Ausiello: Klaus compels Stefan to completely shut off his emotions, thus paving the way for him to become an official baddie. That’s one of, like, four big twists in the episode, so fasten your seat belts.

Okay now we know what happens with Stefan … but what will be the other twists?

Question: I wonder if you have any news on The Secret Circle, Glee, The Vampire Diaries or Nikita? —Luana
Ausiello: Eenie, meenie, miney… Vampire Diaries! Look for Matt’s issues with the supernatural world to come to a head in Episode 5, per exec producer Julie Plec. “It’s set the weekend before senior year begins and it’s senior prank night,” she previews. “And of course, things go horribly wrong. For Matt, specifically, it’s kind of bittersweet because there’s a sense of the life he’s lost over the two seasons of our show and it’s really hurting him. We get to explore that in a beautiful and tragic way.” Plec also confirms that “Matt’s gotta get laid this year. He just needs that. He needs love.”

If still counts what Kat said and she will be saving somebodys life pretty soon … then I think it will be Matt and perhaps in this episode. At first I thought it would be Elijah and now that Klaus brought him to MF it would be easier … but Daniel won´t be back until episode 8
Don´t know what this talk about Matt and a possible new love interest is … but I seriously don´t hope that he will seeing Bonnie in a new light. But Rebekah wouldn´t be a good choice either.

    • Klaus compels Stefan to completely shut off his emotions, thus paving the way for him to become an official baddie.

I can’t even be mad about how lame this is because YES FINALLY! We won’t have to hear about Stefan’s feelings anymore and maybe he can start being entertaining instead of confused about whether he wants to cry or not. Ugh, why didn’t Klaus do this from the start? How is he the villain again? Were people drawing straws that day and he won?

Who knows what the other twists are going to be…maybe Katherine will die or fall into the afterworld or disappear completely or find some relevance again.

      1) Why does Matt need to get laid so badly? 2) Do they have to keep hurting him? Even if he doesn’t die, JP’s interview suggests that he’s going to be in some amount of pain this episode. 3) I’d rather he sleep with Rebecca (but please no) than develop feelings for Bonnie (stop fucking with his friendships). I’m just not interested in watching another rushed triangle or any triangle really.

      • Ugh, why didn’t Klaus do this from the start?

This is a very important question.

Yeah, I’d rather Matt/Rebekah than Matt feeling anything more than friendship for Bonnie.

Katherine falling into the afterworld would be most welcomed.

      • Bonnie and Jeremy need to lay with each other, forget Matt. I really need Matt and Bonnie’s friendship to stay platonic there needs to be a good female/male friendship that is just that.

Ew Stefan now I’m really over this storyline, the easy way out, why TVD why. Now I know I’m not going to like this episode.

        • I really need Matt and Bonnie’s friendship to stay platonic there needs to be a good female/male friendship that is just that.

This so much. Despite the fact that they haven’t spoken since the beginning of s2, they have the best, the only unmarred male/female friendship on the show and I don’t want the show to ruin that. I want them to talk and share and for it to be about them being friends, trusting and knowing each other.

          • I completely agree. Stefan/Caroline doesn’t have the history plus Stefan talks nonchalantly of Damon killing Caroline. Matt/Bonnie remain (and the lack of scenes together works in their favor. Ugh) the only male/female friendship from the group who grew up together that is still in tact.

        • I really really need Bonnie and Jeremy to have sex. I want it more than a person should I would forgive TVD a lot if they gave me this one thing. But who is JP talking about getting laid Matt.

    • I’d be very happy if it was Matt.

I don’t want to see Matt and Rebekah either.

As for Stefan, I saw this on tumblr. So basically his story will go from lame to boring. Do the producers not understand that shirking the character of all responsibility is not compelling? If I was into stuff like that, I’d be the biggest Damon fan.

    • Apparently, ghosts are what killed Klaus in the books. That is what I read in one of the forums anyway. Maybe Katherine is interested in him because she knows he can see dead people.

  18. I have a love/hate relationship with Katherine. I might swing back to love if she has even the beginnings of a plan or a strategy. I welcome ANYONE who has half a clue in this show. I will settle for a quarter of a clue. I also enjoy the Damon/Katherine crazy so there is that too.

I also welcome anything Matt related. I don’t even care at this point. I just want the show to do something with him.

Why can’t the show just say that Katherine wants to kill Klaus because he murdered her entire family? Even Klaus told Stefan that one never stops caring about family. Plus, she did seem very emotional when Elena gave her the Petova family book or wtvr that was.

I LOVE how Bennett witches keep helping the doppelgangers whether they want to or not – whether they are aware of it or not.

Vicky better bring on the “darkness” Anna keeps mentioning if that is Jeremy.

No comment on the Stefan madness

    • Why can’t the show just say that Katherine wants to kill Klaus because he murdered her entire family?

I thought that was the route the show was going to take in S2 – building up to the reveal that Katherine’s ultimate goal was to kill Klaus because he killed her family. But nooo, turns out that she just wanted to make a deal with him which was not only a let-down but also very stupid/naive on her part. (Coming to think of it: it was kind of Elena-like, considering that Elena always has this strategy of ‘let’s just give the bad guys what they want and then they will leave me/us alone & everything will be fine’.) Anyway, I haven’t been able to take Katherine seriously since that reveal.

      • (Coming to think of it: it was kind of Elena-like

Yeah, the whole Katherine vs. Elena and Damon vs. Stefan thing is becoming more and more ridiculous everyday.

Anyway, I haven’t been able to take Katherine seriously since that reveal.

I am struggling to take anyone seriously at this point. Are they even going to have Bonnie comment on Klefan? She was the one who wanted to *die* for the town. I wish I wasn’t hooked. It is so hard for me to change habits.

Btw, are we absolutely sure that were her intentions? I am in total denial about this

          • Yeah, Katherine. I am hoping there is more to it than trying to make a deal with Klaus otherwise *most* of the powerful and/or lead characters on this show are just so completely stupid – Klaus, Stefan, Damon, Elena, Katherine and, possibly, the Council moms (Carol and Liz).

      • (Coming to think of it: it was kind of Elena-like, considering that Elena always has this strategy of ‘let’s just give the bad guys what they want and then they will leave me/us alone & everything will be fine’.)

I never saw the connection before.

  19. I have a love/hate relationship with Katherine. I might swing back to love if she has even the beginnings of a plan or a strategy. I welcome ANYONE who has half a clue in this show. I will settle for a quarter of a clue. I also enjoy the Damon/Katherine crazy so there is that too.

  20. I just watched the preview that has JP in it. Apparently, Beremy is going to change forever…..and so is everyone and everything else because it is a “game changing” ep.

    • Right everyone changes everything changes. JP really stop now you are just saying nothing literally. She likes the sound of her own voice I am convinced of this.

      • She likes the sound of her own voice I am convinced of this.
I agree. This previews are a proper opportunity for her to do that.

I think one of them is Matt … perhaps Vicki will possess him. That´s possible, right?

The other one and this over-promoting of Forwood shows it, could be Tyler.
Maybe he will become a hybrid … but for that Elena has to die. Which won´t happen … or in the end it wasn´t because of Elena, that the creating of Hybrids doesn´t work.

Do you think Klaus will go after Bonnie … or did the writers forget that she also lied to Klaus (by faking her death) and won´t include her in this mess?

        • but in the end everything will change for everyone like JP said.

Only Klaus he will be the same and he will most likely don´t get an higher IQ like I hope.

        • I think Tyler will become a hybrid too, but how will that work because we all know Elena is not going to die. But the synopsis next week has him(Tyler) enjoying everything to much.

I think Matt is going to push himself as close to death as possible so he can see Vicki, he knows Jeremy died and he can see Vicki so I think it’s Matt jumping in the pool.

I am hoping against hope the Bonnie/Jeremy things will change means sex, but I know it probably means they will break up because this show hates me

          • That will probably be the biggest game-changer of all time. At the end Not-Now-Dana has to die to complete Klaus transformation.
They said she would return? Yeh a returning guest star. Dead for sure at the end of this episode.

Your theory with Matt is pretty good … I think something like that will happen and Bonnie will save him in the end. But there will be consequences nevertheless … because Bonnie can´t use the powers of the witches anymore.

I thought, that after Bonnie/Jeremy didn´t have sex last season they will wait until this ghost-storyline is over.
But this could be possible too. Please Anna don´t creep in the background if it happens.
And finally I thought we wouldn´t get a Bonnie/Jeremy scene after he is most likely the person in the trunk.

            • That will probably be the biggest game-changer of all time. At the end Not-Now-Dana has to die to complete Klaus transformation.

LMAO. Can you imagine if Dana also has a few supes helping her out? Elena won’t be the only special snowflake anymore

But this could be possible too. Please Anna don´t creep in the background if it happens.

But Vicky and Anna are always creeping in the background even when Jeremy can’t see them. Lol. I don’t think Bonnie will be comfortable having sex with him while this is going on.

              • I don´t know if it is confirmed but JP said she would make a return … don´t know if it was an interview or simply atweet … but I think I heard about that.

I only thought this would be a good time for her to show up bc they are back at school.

          • Yeah it’s supposed to be this episode 3×05 were Forwood goes downhill drastically. I think that is what JP said a couple of weeks ago.

      • Bonnie/Jeremy will change forever, Matt will change forever, Forwood will change forever that’s what she says no need to watch. You welcome.

  21. oh, hold the fuck up. I just rewatched the clip. Where did Katherine pull out the necklace from? Her underwear? Lololol. Are my eyes deceiving me? Is she wearing a short dress or a top with pants?
